I am assuming you have the cornering fogs with P2 package.
If you want the fogs on with the headlights, you cant have it on auto anymore. It has to be on the ON position, one click to the left from AUTO and pull out. Pull once for front fog, pull two clicks for front fogs and rear fog light

Ah, as a substitute for DRL....got it. My thought was that I have Lamin-X on the fogs for protection, and that deteriorates (yellows) over time with usage (heat). So, for being conspicuous, wouldn't headlamps also do the trick, while sparing the more fragile fogs? Before DRLs became better integrated in design, many cars in Canada just used headlamps, although at a lower output setting, for DRLs....just wondering....

Honestly, when people drive up behind me at night with fogs on for no reason other than having them on, makes me want to punch them in the throat. No offense.

In all seriousness though, some do it because they want to be flashy, have their presence be known that they're on the road. Most economy cars (even some luxury cars) do not come with fog lights standard, so it's more of an "option" to be shown off. Others do it actually for safety, as for some automobiles it luminates the corners of the road to detect whatever random thing that may come by.

Ha, I just can't stand all the extra illumination, it's not needed on a highway at high speeds. The only safety part about it is that you can tell the insurance company what it was that you hit because you won't be able to get out of its way.
I know why people turn them on. I just don't appreciate the blinding aspect of it. I guess I'm getting old. (But I can still throw a good throat punch.)

the fogs arent even aimed higher than the rear bumper, so I dont see how they would annoy you. With an auto dimming mirror, it shouldnt make too big of a difference
Turning on the DRL option on 2008-2010 models is just having the headlights on all the time
These cars come with day time running lights, just check your settings to turn them on..

If they are installed right, they shouldn't but that's hardly the case. And I have other cars that I own that do not have auto dimming mirrors.

Let me clear this up for you guys since I have/had an 08, 10, and now 11 model year.
2008-2009 the fogs are activated thru the headlight selector, as stated, 2 clicks to the right and then pull out one click. if you pull too far which is a second click the rear taillamp turns into a rear fog by being double bright. In these years YOU MUST turn them off manually otherwise the lights will stay on
2010 model year only the fogs turn on the same way up front, BUT you can remove the key and they lights and fogs will BOTH turn off without touching the switch, you can drive the car all the time with both on, headlights and fogs and NOT have to turn the switch upon start up/turn off. at least this is the case w moms 2010 w P2 package
2011 the LEDs are set thru settings. Either on or off during daytime known as DRLs, and then they are on w the lights either way at half power at night time

Try saying you don't need FOGS on a highway when many highways in the south don't even have lamp posts to illuminate the highways. So the extra illumination is extremely helpful. i495, i85 and i70 in the carolina's come to mind.
Also. I have NEVER been blind by anyone's FOG lamps, ever... Now when people put in these insanely high voltage lamps in there headlights where they can see clear across the atlantic that blinds me. But then again our MB's come with auto dimming mirrors so thats a silent FU to em, lol!
