Question 32 Years old feels like I'm 60 trying to figure it out 2011 300

Hi Everyone,

I am happy to say I am back in the family. My first benz was back in 2004 being it a c230 kompressor. Last weekend i recently purchased a 2011 c300 sport and am excited to drive all over again. A few questions if anyone can help. These may have been already posted before and I apologize in advance.

1. Is there a way to turn off the feature where the headlights stay on for sometime after i leave my car. I remote lock it but it stays on for like 10-15 sec.

2. Is it possible to get factory bi xenons installed at the dealer if the car came with the normal halogen lights

3. Do they sell clear replacements for the front lights (i guess there on the sides of the front bumper)

Again i apologize if these are redundant questions. I think this is the first time where i felt like a grandpa trying to figure out a computer for the first time.

Thanks Guys!

1. Not sure about this so other members are gonna have to chime in.

2. If your looking to get HiDs then you should just get them from aznoptics, a sponsor here that is reliable. Really easy install.

3. The sidemarkers do come in clear. They are all over eBay. What color is your car?

Hopefully that helps. Welcome to the forums.

Sounds like you would be talking about the exterior lighting delayed switch off feature:
http://www4.mercedes-benz.com/manual...1f191545bc0628

Activating/deactivating the surround lighting and exterior lighting delayed switch-off

If you have activated the Surround lighting function and the light switch is in the position,
  • the exterior lighting will come on if it is dark and you unlock the vehicle using the key
The exterior lighting switches off when you open the driver’s door.
  • the exterior lighting remains on for another 15 seconds after closing the doors when it is dark
If the engine is switched off and then none of the doors are opened, or if an open door is not closed, the exterior lighting goes out after 60 seconds.

1. From your steering wheel controls, press the left and right arrows and go to settings, then go to lighting, and then on surround lighting, set it to disabled.

2. With enough $$$ anything is possible, but as itsLoonie said, getting an HID kit would be an easier/effective alternative.

3. eBay :3

Welcome to the forums!

Here's the clear sidemarkers. Just search c300 sidemarkers or w204 sidemarkers. On a black car however I'd suggest smoked but do what pleases you.

I didn't buy these specific ones. Something I searched up real quick.

Here's the HIDs I was talking about. Cheaper than buying the Bi-Xenon headlights as they are probably about 1k for pair or something. Picture of the 5000k HIDs on my car.

One thing to add. For the clear/smoked sidemarkers, you'll have basically two designs to choose from which you might miss if you don't pay attention. One has a silver bezel, but refracted lens so you don't see the inside bulb clearly. One has a clear bezel, but you can more clearly see the inside of the lens. Both are good, but just make sure you get the one you really want. There should be plenty of pics posted up with Derspeed's posting being the primary one for the clear bezel.

And welcome back to the MB family

Welcome to the forums. It took me a while to figure out all the menus on the steering wheel controls but its easy as pie once you do figure it out. On my 2010 I can turn the daytime running lights from there as well. +1 for the aftermarket HID kit.
