w204 2011 change DRL's to LED?

Has anyone without the lighting package with the 2011 attempt to change the DRL's to LEDs? Looks like theres a lotta bulbs. Would it be easier to just swap out for a LED unit vs the bulb?

ummm isnt what you want a retrofit as well? the standard is a single halogen bulb, and the LEDs is a led light strip, or are u trying to find some kind of single bulb?

the 2011 IS a LED unit, there are 7 (i think) LED lights next to eachother, you are thinking they are regular bulbs. All the LED strips are the same way, look closely on ebay or wherever. Theres no type of straight strip

so then i'd have to replace my entire strip and buy a new unit? I'm running 6k HIDs right now and the fact that they dont match just annoys the hell out of me.

i have the 2011 with the strip already, not the fogs, and am trying to change the bulbs because my illuminates more amber than white.

ah you want to change out the individual LEDs.. are you satisfied with the color when they are on full brightness? I've seen some when they are on the dim setting (headlights on) and they do look a little yellow, however on full brightness they match my HIDs pretty well. They arent 6k blue but they are probably close to 5k color.

You could rewire the LEDs to an accessory connection and have them on full brightness at all times. just need to do the capacitor trick if you change from the pre-wired connection.

thought i'd bump this since i never did find out a solution. since then I've added smoked sidemarkers with 8k LEDs so now the bottom is getting REAL annoying.

solution: stop getting **** thats 8k and 6k

go for some more neutral colors closer to pure white and your LEDs will match... try 4500k for you HID bulbs and 5K AZN leds in the brows/sides...

soblem prolved.

Just get some Blue Optic Lamin-X in bulk and do a custom wrap over your DRLs. Lol.

i'd rather not spend another 2 bills to redo my lights to match my drl's when i can use that money towards matching the setup I wanted.

I think you will have to replace the entire strip and not the individual bulbs.

Find a lighting/optics vendor who can provide a 7-light LED strip in 6k (your HIDs temp). Michael at AZN Optics on MBWorld may be able to help or there is always eBay.

Then if you want all lights to match I'd swap your 8k side markers LEDs for 6k (~$25).

This would likely be the cheapest solution.

Looks terrible and isn't nearly as functional as proper HIDs (less overall light output).

Agreed!! i used blue's instructions to retrofit my DRL, and they don't dim, this is what it looks like... more of a 5k color.. What i might do is to change my eye brown LEDS to 5000k so it'll match =)

AZN shipped them out yesterday so i may get them today since hes just up the way so ill post pics ASAP

im thinkin of keepin my 8000k HID headlights but we'll see how the 5000k look with the DRL's, some contrast between the lows and DRL's/eyebrows might look nice...are you getting the SPYDER headlights

yeah keep ur 8k HID or 6k.. i think 6k is nice (that's what i have =P).. and i also love the contrast between the top and the bottom as 5k and 6k in the middle. I was going to get the Spyder headlights but it doesn't work with Bi-Xenon headlights
