somethings wrong, any suggestions?

Ok, well this morning I go into my garage, start up the car, getting ready to drive to class to take one of my finals. I start to back out, hit the gas and basically nothing, I put it in drive, put the pedal to the floor and my car is barely accelerating.

A Engine check sign pops up and then an error message saying ESP inoperative. I try for 20mins messing around with the car to fix it (reset TCU, turn the wheel back and forth) and nothing. Luckily I had my track car here so I just took that to class and didn't miss my test, but now Im stuck with my c350 busted.

Any body have any idea as to why its acting up? I know ESP is a safety issue but I haven't had any incidents to make the car throw that code?

Im now able to get the car driving regularly after turning the wheel totally left then right a few times but the car will only drive regularly for about 10mins then It will act up again.

hopefully someone out here can help me, seeing as I dont wanna pay an arm and leg at the deal ( no warranty ) Because driving a track tuned car with a stage 3.5 clutch in Orlando traffic is a nightmare.

1)When I had my VW I would pull the battery for a few min (15-20) and that would clear the codes and some of the gremlins that where in the electrical system. Have you tried to do that yet?
2)Please post a pic of the track car.

The ESP system relies on inputs from multiple sensors that could also impact driveability. An example would be using ABS, wheel, and MAF inputs to calculate load data. If you have a bad MAF, you can get intermittent driveability issues until it finally dies completely at which point you'll get no driveability. You should have a fault code to scan. This will help confirm. If you use oily air filters, you may want to consider going back to paper.

cheers! Mike

the best thing u could do is find someplace that will scan if for you and give u the code. Then u have a pinpoint as to whats going on, we could guess alot of things. The MAF is a classic problem w all newer cars, do you have stock filters? Also do u have a tune on ur ECU? Try pulling your battery as posted above for an hour and see what happens. If you can get a code pulled w a scanning tool post the code# and I'll run it for u

Yeah, if you're out of warranty, you should really try to get the code pulled. IF there was no check engine light it is probably something less serious (I would hope). But the fact that there is no power is worrying. Usually if its just a wheel sensor, you get the ESP inoperative message when moving at speed, but still have full power.

How was the steering wheel? Did that trip the error? There is a steering wheel angle sensor that is known to be a gremlin on other mercedes models, but doesn't usually correlate with loss of power. Those symptoms point me to believe it could be the: B24/15 = YAW RATE AND LATERAL ACCELERATION SENSOR-ESP p/n:216-542-00-18 (for e-class, not sure for w204) or the ESP module.

thanks for all the replies, Im going to try and pull the battery and let it sit. thats the only other thing I can think of doing at this point if that doesnt work Im going to have a take it some where to get it scanned after my finals are all done.

My car is using stock filters and has no tune. Hopefully the MAF sensor went bad bc that is a simple fix and I dont think the filters have been replaced in a while. also there is a Engine Check light, which makes me worry.

and no the ECU reset did nothing.
