Fog light issue
So i picked up my 08' C220cdi sport a few weeks back and i love it. Looking at the front fog's though, they look as if they're cross eyed...
I don't know if they're supposed to be like that and also i noticed individual fog's turn on when i steer. However, i don't notice any difference to the light on the road when the fog's come on. My car also has the HID's so maybe that affects how much light i can see.
Anyways, heres how my fog's look:
Are they normal or is there something wrong???

A search on adaptive fogs hasn't really helped but cheers anyway. I understand that they turn on while turning to provide additional light but why do they look cross eyed??? They're clearly not pointing straight. At first i thought they were motorized but they're definately fixed. They look as if they don't fit properly. Any other comments guys?

Adaptive fogs (that type anyway) are a complete joke, they do nothing. He could just run the car with both fogs on and achieve the same thing.
As far as the way they are pointed, I really have no idea... I've never seen that before. It looks like someone moved them like that, very incorrectly. Hopefully someone more knowledgable will help you...

Your best bet, pull the fogs out, (3 torx screws in the mesh) and take a look, I'm pretty sure they were installed incorrectly, the lens should be pointing straight and flat, it's the reflector inside that helps with the cornering illumination.

Cheers for the replies everyone. I really don't understand how they can be installed incorrectly. When i purchased the car, it was a one owner company car and was serviced at main dealerships only so i don't know how they didn't spot it. Is it a straight forward easy job?
I'll get a pic of the whole front end in the morning. Thanks again everyone.

Adaptive fogs look nothing like that. For "Corner Illuminating Foglights" which is a function that comes with the P2 package, the foglight simply turns on in whichever direction you turn your wheel or signal. The actual housing itself NEVER turns. From what I can see, it looks like they tried to install luxury foglight housings on a sport model by accident. To the OP, is the glass lens of the foglight oval or circular?

So i took some more pictures then had a closer look:
And a side view:
My car's a right hand drive. I managed to remove the drivers side fog (pictured) but it wasn't easy. Getting the cover off was easy, but then the fog light was screwed in from behind so i had to reach behind to undo it then get it out via the arch liner. The passenger side however is blocked by the screen wash reservoir or something so i wasn't able to get to that side. I've identified that the fogs are definately installed incorrectly and that they need to be switched.
Looks like the bumper is gonna need to come off but in these cold times, i think i may have to wait till it gets warmer!
Unless someone can convince me its easy to get the bumper on and off...

Does the bumper 100% have to come off???
I managed to remove the right side fog after a slight struggle but looking behind the left side fog, there's not much space to work with.

sorry to revive an old thread, but did you find the cause of this problem?
Mine has the exact same problem, the fog lights are cross-eyed??
It has always been a company car and has always been taken to mercedes dealership so find this really bizarre?
I really want to get this sorted, any help would be appreciated

Thats what i was thinking, swap them over..
But when i was talking to the garage last week, i was shown the fog light brackets and told that someone has had the brackets set so they sit like that , why would anyone want to do that :S

So would you believe it, the fog lights were the wrong way round!!
When they are clearly labelled left and right on the back, how a mechanic can fail to understand left is passenger (uk by the way) and right is drivers is beyond me
Im glad they are straight now, so for those who have bent fog lights lol, this is what u need to do
