The 08-11 also has projector beams even for non Zenon headlights so the housing will be able to cope with the extra heat that is emitted but the HID bulbs a little better. Not to mention it will focus the light a lot better than the standard reflective surface in Hologen housings in the non-zenon headlights for the new refresh for 2012.

im aware of that but i noticed that up to the 2011 model, the housing had a clip to hold the bulb in place. whereas the 2012 is a plug shaped like the metal "circle" around the base on the H7 bulb and it is a "turn-to-lock" type.

You are right, together with the new shaped headlights (Febr 2011 onwards) the fitment of the H7 bulb in the housing is completely different.
I have ordered a H7 HID Conversion kit, I have the metal holding clip removed and try to find an alternative. First I will try to modify the existing clip. Lets hope that this will work.
If you found a solution in meanwhile keep me informed !

I finaly was able to do it on my girlfriends car it was pain in the asssssss but it got done. so basicly once you take off the oem light bulb there is a metal pluged in to the socket where it powers on. you will have to take that metal peice out put it on the hid light bulb and then plug it back in i wish i had pics to show what i am talking about but its the same thing as if you were doing it on the 08-11 model c class, my car i a 08 and it had a metal piece that was pushing the light bulb so it can stay tight but the 2012 dont have that its a different piece once you start playing with it and understand how it is setup you can do it its not hard but it will take about good 2 hours until you figure it out how it works i will try taking pics of it but maybe in couple of days i am going to be busy this week

While you guys were installing the HID's, has anyone noticed how the heck you can get into the turn signal bulb to change it?

Hi Max,

For the new headlights they sell special adapters for Xenon , look at pilot xenon website for info.

By the previous W204 it was an easy job , but the facelift is more difficult due the new/other mounting of the bulb.

Best regards,

Patrick

Guys , also notice that the facelift W204 dont have the projector headlights, so Xenon looks different and can blind other people.

If someone have pics with Xenon in the facelift please post how it looks.

Have seen the special adapters on their website (and some others sites too), but if I can rely on the pics, they look different. Especially the two holding "wings" are not same shaped so it may not work in our W204 facelift.
As soon the Pilot kit are in my hands (they are on Back Order for the moment) I will take a closer look and will update.

I know this is an old question but if it helps any body out, you just remove the dust cap from behind the headlight and then you can remove the bulb. They are both twist locks, a quarter turn or so. I just installed LED turn signals from AZNoptics. Kind of a PITA on the driver's side but I have pretty big mitts and still got it done fairly quickly.

Sorry for late update, but the conversion job has been done with good result.
1). First remove the metal holding clip from the plastic connector base.
remove the original Halogen bulb,
2). Next rework the opening of the metal holding clip, in order to let the connectors of the HID lamp pass trough. (Only small cutting was required, depends on the size of the connector).
3). Check carefully the bulb for fitment, the deflection cap in the reflector must be free, HID bulbs differs from glass lenght, depends on the brand.
4). Place the reworked clip on the HID bulb base and lock it in the tabs.
Since the holding clip is separated from the plastic connector base it will flex a bit, but if it is locked in place it is solid.

Exchange the position bulbs with 6000K white LED bulbs (with resistor) to complete the job.

Have driven 10K KM's since, all trouble free. The light beam have a sharp dark/ light cut-off and doesn't blind upcoming traffic.
The performance is excellent !

Have done mine also, Havent changed the clips, the wires of the HID kit fits to the gap in the clips. ( having the same brand as Maxxy) It was an easier job than i was thinking.

30 minute job...

Thanks for the PM Max

Light is much much better than OEM

I have been following this thread for some time. The 2012 with the reflector housing needs some sort of adaptor to lock in the HID via a counterclockwise rotation. I don't want to chop up the existing ***'y in case I want to go back.

I have had a number of emails back and forth with a Connecticut based company "Retro-solutionsllc.com" and just sent detailed pictures of our plug and light. I expect to hear back in a day or two as to their solution.

By the way, my trade-in 1999 CLK had HID installed for years in a reflector housing and I never had any problems with blinding oncoming cars.

You can use the original metal adapter, you can click it off the piece where you stick you H7 bulb in.

So you dont need Any adapter , just use the original.

You can also go back to original if you want.
