thinking of buying a 2012 C350 but.....

I am thinking of getting rid of my B-class turbo and get a C350 4matic but the idea of having a DI engine is scaring me a little bit. I know there is a lot of arguments in this forum about the new DIs but I am just wondering what you guys think about it. I can still order a C300 4matic with the old engine with a price difference of $2000 only.

Any help in making my decision will be greatly appreciated.

There may be issues with the DI, but no one is sure.... The new 3.5L DI V6 is a sweet ride.... get the extended warranty and you'll be fine if anything were to show its ugly face!

+1 with MBredux. If I were to choose now, I'd take the new DI engines along with extended warranty. The improved fuel efficiency also offsets the extended warranty cost, with increased benefits if you drive many miles (which I don't personally).

Can I ask the dumb question? What might the issues be with DI?

Other manufacturers have been having issues with inlet system fouling. Benz actually has a lot of DI experience. They ran the CGI range in Europe & have been building diesels since pa fell off the bus & understand captive breathing & valve stem oil control. We are just keeping an eye on the situation.

We have a 2012 C350 and love it. Powerful, smooth, engine silent at stop. Getting 29+ mpg on freeway. New interior and Comand system top-notch. Drive one (if you can find one) and see what you think. I think you'll really like it.

As a buyer, you are in a good position to get a final answer from MB tech reps. Their silence to others is unsettling.

I have a 2011 C300 4matic and a 2012 C350 Coupe. The c300 is a great touring car but I always drive the c350 whenever possible. The extra power is addicting, the new transmission is more responsive and I get 2-4 MPG more. I only plan on keeping it 4 yrs so am not concerned with the DI. Good luck, this is a very easy decision for me.
