Your dealer is wrong. 236.14 fluid is correct for all transmissions up to 722.9 Plus transmission.
722.9 Plus transmission uses 236.15 blue fluid which is not reverse compatible with older transmissions. It is a far lighter viscosity.

That Mobil product in the link is 236.14 fluid.

Tell your lazy dealer to look up your VIN. At that date it is probably a 722.9 Plus transmission. Then he can consult the WIS for correct servicing.

Here is the latest listing of approved 234.15 fluids for 722.9 Plus transmission.

You should have 722.9 Plus. Please check against VIN ~ we find some strange things. I have never seen a stop/start car without 722.9 Plus.

If you have 7G Tronic Plus (722.9 Plus) you can ONLY use 236.15 Fluid.

Drain interval is 120,000 Km's. Until this has been proven successful (we have not examined many used fluid samples) I would change fluid & filter every 60,000Km's like other Benz transmissions.

This is the most commonly used pump by DIY'ers on the forum. Available on eBay & Amazon. Make sure you get the correct adaptor for 722.9.

You don't need to flush the oil cooler circuit. Just drain pan & TC & most of the fluid in the cooler circuit will drain at the same time.

You can flush the cooler using kerosene or new 236.15 fluid. I don't feel it is needed, but if you are willing to do it, the better.

Definitely do drain the torque converter, and remember to keep things clean.

Do not put kerosene anywhere near the transmission. No need to flush cooler lines.

I used A 001 989 78 03 , 33 kilometres gear shiftin is so bad

It says change interval 120 000 kms not a half Of it ,

Any artecco chevron product updated with 236.15 ?

Carefull with dealers make sure to buy A 222 277 20 00 for 7 gtronic + for a good drain interval.

Hi all.

I've read about 20 threads and been searching, and I'm still not convinced if I should get 236.14 or 236.15 fluid. I know you mentioned to check with your VIN to determine your transmission type, but perhaps I'm not sure what you all mean by that. I've checked my VIN on a couple free VIN decoders, but none mentions the 7G Tronic or 7G Tronic PLUS.

I've found a couple sites to run my vin and here are 5 relevant pieces of info I get for transmission:
Transmission: 722964 03 901043 [transmissionType = GA]
Engine no: 272948 32 015126
Transmission Code Version 64
A89-Reduced Friction
Release date was March 2012

My car was built right around change to the 7G Tronic PLUS, so that's what is causing my uncertainty. Unfortunately, none of the VIN checking sites I found mention the terms "7G Tronic" or "7G Tronic PLUS".

Originally I was convinced after reading multiple threads that it was the 7G Tronic (because of no push button start) and was going to get 236.14, but after going to ECS Tuning to buy a kit and dropping in my year, make, model, it was prompting me to get the 236.15. The key component for ECS Tuning going 236.14 or 236.15 is whether or not it has the A89-Reduced Friction requirement. (No requirement = 236.14, Requirement = 236.15). My car, per the VIN checking site, has the requirement for reduced friction.

I think ECS is reputable, but still want to be 100% certain.

I've even gone so far as to sign up for an EPC at https://epc.startekinfo.com (and I'm very likely using it wrong), but I can't find the answer there.

any help is greatly appreciated.

I can't comment on runout models to the US.

EDIT: Yes - fluid change every 125,000Km's instead of 60,000Km's (they say 50K in the article but 60K has been the global norm). We will see how this works out in reality.
I'm quoting a very very old post and I apologize.

I have a 2012 C300 (272 engine without direct injection). I have a 7 speed transmission (4matic), but I don't think it's the "Plus" version of the transmission.

Is this thread relevant to me or am I to stick to the old fluid? Thanks

I do NOT have start/stop and it is the facelifted model. In 2013 they launched the C300 with the Plus tranny and direct injection. So i'm fairly certain I do not have the 7G plus.

Also, should I wait until 60,000km for a tranny service/drain, or is 50,000 the way to go? I seem to recall a post on here which said that it was originally 50k and they pushed it to 60k. Thanks

I just had an oil change and the tech said you have some transmission fluid leaking around the drain plug. I said, are you sure, I have no fluid on my driveway. Tech said, that's because there's a shield that catches leaks. I tried to check my transmission level, but to my surprise you can not. So I am having tranny serviced next Tuesday at 47K.

This is kilometers, correct?

Do you generally do city driving or highway driving? How old is the vehicle?

Thank you sir.

PS I think you're being hosed.

Here's the drain plug...

http://cdn4.pelicanparts.com/techart...mall/pic02.jpg

I don't see a cover for it, and if there is, how would he see it as part of an oil change? (especially since oil changes should be done whereby the dealer extracts oil from the top...)
