Paint calipers?

I may consider painting my calipers when the wheels come off to be changed next week. Does anyone knowing that front caliper plate that says "Mercedes Benz" comes off or is it something that just needs to be taped off?

Is it glued on? If so, what do you use to put it back on? If it just snaps off it seems easier

It just pops off and snaps back on. It has spring clips, so just put a screw driver under and pop off, then when you replace, just hit it with you hand.

Nice to know now. That information would have been useful 3 yrs ago when I spent almost an hour meticulously masking off the plates. I might remove mine and either coat them red or gloss black since it so easy.
Instead of a screwdriver I would suggest a nylon pry bar to avoid gouging/scraping.

Are you painting them while they are on the car or removing them to paint?

I coated mine while they were on the car. THOROUGHLY clean the calipers and then carefully masked off the rotors and the pads. I bought various sizes of those cheap foam brushes and got started. Been on for over 3 yrs and no problems.

Well, I have to say I have mixed feelings now...3 hours after finishing the painting The paint itself seems fine and was a pain due to the complex lines of the calipers, but looks good. Now the problem. I masked the left front caliper "mercedes benz" plate, then sprayed with the included G2 brake cleaner...worked fine. On the right side I sprayed with brake cleaner first, then masked it and painted. Well, when I peeled off the masking tape on the right caliper the damn mercedes logo peeled halfway off!! Words cannot express my disappointment. The car is only a couple months old and now the logos look like the calipers are 10 years old. How in the world do they begin to wipe away after just applying brake cleaner?? I'm not sure what to do from here. I don't want to leave it that way. Not sure what the best option could be.
