Seven speed sport transmission
Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and I'm considering a C 350 sport. I have a question about the transmission when it's driven in manual mode. My question is, how well it holds gears during run off.
So let's say you're accelerating in a particular gear and you get to say 3500 RPMs, and then you let off the gas, does the transmission disengage or does it stay fully locked into the gear as a manual transmission would?
I have not had the opportunity to drive one yet to see for myself so I thought I would ask the smart folks here on this forum.

all cars have the tiptronic trans if thats what u mean. If you mean M mode next to the shifter u have to have dynamic handling package, I have it on my 2011. It lets u paddle shift OR stick shift up and down, it holds the gears better than sport mode in a regular car, but does NOT lock the gear like a manual. If your in 5th doing 15mph and hit it the trans will kick down a gear maybe 2 gears to help you out instead of ******* the gear. What it does do is hold the gear til the end, it redlines for a sec before push shifting u to the next gear, its great for the track or spirited driving

I guess the 2012 models must have it standard because I did not see the dynamic handling package listed as any option or package on the build your own website and the coupes standard with paddle shifters.

to go into detail........it was a 2k package and it includes, the paddle shifters, next to the shifter is the button normally c/s but on these its ONLY M mode. on the dash is a sport button next to the rear power shade and heated seats. That engages the sport mode on trans and activates the sport suspension which is a magnetic ride control system that is very firm and responsive. These cars use different shocks/struts/swaybars than standard C class. If anyone has a 2012 w paddles let us know if you have the M button and the Sport button on the dash, id be interested to know if its standard now, I highly doubt it tho....

There are several options (dynamic handling, rear sunshade) that are not listed on the website but that are available.
There is an additional fee to order it - I think it is like $250 + the cost of the option.

i thought so, i cant see it being standard, it was almost 2grand on my 2011. I would recommend it to anyone who is an aggressive driver, its the bomb. The only caveat is you cant do coil-overs to lower the car if you have that option, but you can do springs. it lowers the car even more than usual cause its already a little lower than standard Cs.

To simplify, manual mode allows you to select a new, lower, top gear, that's it. Select 4th and come to a stop, your down to 1st, and you then hit it and it will shift to 2nd, 3rd, then 4th as top gear.
