Easy getting in and out?
Hey all,
I know there's an option in the dash to enable convenient entry and exit of vehicle. When enabled, the steering wheel moves up/down when you shut the car off/on. Does anyone know if the seats move back as well?
With the 05 E500 I had, both the seat and the steering wheel would move to make it easier for exit/entry. Wasn't sure why that wasn't included with the newer C.
I set memory seat #2 to have the seat and steering wheel all the back and up. But I was confused as to why they would include an option to have steering wheel move up to let you out but not have the seat push back to let you out.

Somebody should look into the programming or ask Steve at MBenzNL if this can be achieved on cars with the memory, seat, column, mirrors package with a Star in developer mode.
Seat & column move on a CLK if certain parameters are met - I'm sure it must be possible but who knows?

This "feature" was a source of endless trouble since the seat memory module kept forgetting settings. It was also supposed to provide right mirror tilt down which worked only occasionally. My car's modules (left and right) were replaced multiple times under warranty.
Since all these failures generated warranty claims, many think this is the reason memory seats went away in early W204s.

My 2009 CLK does all these things reliably. That's why I think that the feature might have been switched off rather than done away with on newer cars with the full memory package. All cars right up to & including the S Class have it.

Inserting the key only will not tilt the mirror.

Cars with seat memory have an instruction in the manual for setting the tilted mirror position the first time. The shifter must be in reverse with the key ON to tilt the mirror.
The failure was in the seat memory module. My 2008 has no such modules since it does not have seat memory.
And my 2001 C320's modules were replaced under warranty several times when they forgot what to do which was one of the early W203 problems.

Early W203 seat modules were garbage - They frequently played up & did not go to sleep leaving people with flat batteries & other problems. They were superceded by the W211 seat modules which have proven reliable.
If the mirror plays up it requires to be operated through all it's maximums to reset the stops. After this it should be OK. 2005 production seems to have been the last time tilting mirrors gave trouble.

I just had this issue. can I fix it myself by ordering a seat module? if so should I order the w211 module (I have a 2003 w203 240 4matic) or should I order the w203?
thanks for any response.
