If you added the JB, you have an extra 43 ft-lbs torque increase from 2700 to 3100 rpms. JB just doesn't help initial low rpm boost-gain that much, and retarding the timing then is the likely reason why.

.
I've been thinking about the JB after I get 5,000 or so miles on it. That said, I'm quite pleased with how it is now so I will have to see in a few months with the heat and humidity if that holds up.

Again, if the turbo has sleeve bearings, as most OEM do, you want to run the thinnest oil that meets specs for maximum boost response.

I found this out in a more extreme comparison on my old 83 Saab Turbo. I started with Mobil1 10W-30, per the book, and thought I'd try Castrol 5W-50. The lag increase was huge, and only got right again when I went back to the 10W-30.

Castrol 0W-30 synthetic meets 229.5 requiremens, and is listed as approved by MB.

That is just amazing that you guys do not get diesel in north America. I am so impress with my wife's C350 cdi. It feels almost as powerful as my C63. 0-100km is 6sec. Moreover these new diesels seems so much quieter as well.

Here is a short story. About a month ago I was given a loan car, a S350 for a week. At the end of the week I decided to do the decent thing and refil the tank before I return the vehicle. When I opened the cover of the of the fuel tank I was in a state of absolute shock to find the red capped cover with diesel printed on it. I was a bit embarrassed to feel fooled for a whole week by driving a diesel and not knowing it. I was always wondering when this car was so powerful despite its weight. It fooled my friend, my wife and myself. Yes, on the back of the car it does not say Cdi as in previous models. Just shows how much diesel technology have advanced. It much quieter and smoother. Also the insolution in the cabin is much better in S series hence we cannot hear any diesel noise.

Has anyone had issues with the paddle shifters in the coupe. My experience today was starting out in first gear near red lining and shifting twice which should put me in third gear. There was no drop in RPM's and it rev'd to red line...Are these paddles simply useless or what? What have your experiences been?

Ye kind of taking a shot in the dark with that post. Kind of new here but you are right I should have put that up in a diff thread. I do not think I can create my own threads yet and I am kind of frusterated with these paddles shifters. With my experience they are truely and utterly useless, not to mention dangerous seeing how it red lines and does not drop rpm's like it should.
