Aluminum Trim

Why does every TV ad, print ad, brochure etc for the new C-classes show the aluminum trim inside, but it is impossible to actually buy a C-class with aluminum trim? I've look at hundreds of cars online for months and tried to get the dealer to find one, but it is impossible.

I can't believe they would advertise it 100% of the time and make it available 0% of the time.

I can't stand the walnut trim. Is it possible to change it? If so, if there is actually an owner out there with aluminum trim, would you be interested?

That's funny. When I first bought the 08 C-Class back in 2007- everyone hated the Aluminum trim and wanted the wood or wrapped it in CF film or fabric.
Good luck finding a willing member.

I'm dying to see a 2012 model with aluminum trim. Based on my experience with the prefacelift model, the aluminum trim looks great in the commercial materials but looks absolutely terrible (not to mention dents) in person. Maybe it's been changed since then?

I have a '12 with the black MB tex and aluminum trim. At first, I wanted the walnut, but now, I'm quite happy to have aluminum.

I have noticed aluminum trim in the C250's but none in the C350's. Maybe that's due to the fact that there are a lot more C250's out there. I would just think that C350 owners are looking for the sport look that the aluminum trim provides.

You can buy it, but it's quite expensive.

The way you worded it, you made it seem like aluminum is extremely rare/desirable. I'm not sure if anyone would want to give it up

My dealer has 16, yes, 16 2012 C-Class's with the aluminum interior trim. (All of them are MB-Tex) From the C250-C300 . The C350 only has wood.

I believe that is no longer available, at least here in the USA.

C250 Blk\Blk/Alum
I just got 12' c250 Coupe a few days ago with the black on black Alum trim. My only complaint are the paddle shifters are completely useless... If you start out in first gear a rev up to near red line and tap two times that should bring you into third gear. It takes less thn two seconds to tap the shifter twice yet the rpm's dont drop like they would in a manual trans...Useless paddle shifters.

Hyp what do you have in your car? I actually sought out the Alum. In NJ most of the coupe's available only had the Wood. I have has bmw with the wood interior and never liked it. I think the black on black with alum looks pretty slick. I know I have been complaining about this on other threads but I am still in shock as to how useless the paddle shifters are. I am not saying lag or slow, I am saying useless.... As a test for all who read this, go into S mode, engage the paddle shifts from a stop so you will be in first gear, and floor it!! When you get to 5500 RPM's shift twice to bring you into third gear...Car continues to red line lolllll with no drop in rpm....This is a joke of a product in the car.

I have aluminum with ash - pics are in my gallery/garage.

I like how it looks - I don't think wood goes well with my color combination.

I've finally determined that the 250 has it and the 350 doesn't. So now I'm thinking about buying a 250, but am concerned about performance? Is it really slow?

ps I really did not like that trim at all... looks great on tv and youtube... but TO ME, IMO in person, it looks/feels cheap. (hope that didn't upset anyone) much rather have CF as an option!!!!!

I agree with you. I looked at some of the aluminum ones but it just looked cheap... But again, that's just my opinion. Some may really like it.

I still love my aluminum trim. It looks sporty and provides a nice contrast to the all black interior. I think it looks even better in the 2012 models as it complements all of the extra aluminum on the guages, vents and steering wheel.
The brushed aluminum doesn't show as much scratches as on the wood. My previous car had wood and the glossy finish really shows off the fine scratches and swirl marks over time.

The SLS has aluminum trim as standard, you don't hear anyone complaining about that.

You must be kidding me? You're basing your purchase solely on the type of INTERIOR TRIM that's available for the car?

At least it isn't based on 0-60 times when the car will never see a track day

hehe, I don't use the paddels either......even in my AMG.......
I have the black ash in my 550 and the CF inside my AMG which is pretty sweet......has the three different ambient lights too
only have the amber in my 550, or the pumpkin color...
