2012 C350 sport vs 2009 c63 amg

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums but I have this quick question for everyone. I recently had my 09 c300 totaled, water got into the engine and messed it up. But moving forward I am looking at a custom order C350 sedan( MSRP 50000-51000 before kickbacks and haggling) or a 2009 c63 amg (roughly 62000) that has almost 19000 miles on it. my Client advisor told me they can knock 15000 off of the amg bringing it down to about 48000. So at this point I am really torn between the two. I drive a lot for my job, like 15000- 20000 miles a year. either way I will finance the car I am just unsure what would be better right now, So I wanted to get you opinions and see what everyone thought. Also I live in Louisiana so the roads are not the smoothest they can be.

well in my eyes, you are not comparing apples to oranges. If i was you, i would get the c63 because it is capable of daily driving but not the best on gas prices. but its wether you like your cars new or used as well. the maintenance cost will be different as well and how often you need to change your tires. good luck

C63 All the way

I'm partial to the c350 however the c63 is going to give you way more bang for your buck. If you are spending around the same price and don't mind a used car I think that the c63 is going to be the way to go. From everything I hear you will not be disappointed

If I was in your situation, I will pick the 2012 C350 :
1. The car is NEW (body, tires, engine, electronic....), it will cover you 3 least 3 years/48K miles warranty.
2. The mileage for the 2012 C350 is MUCH better than C63 !!!! Not much warranty left for 2009 C63 & you know how much it cost to maintain an AMG.
3. It's your Daily driving, you are NOT the racer, why spend more for gasoline to get from point A to point B, which cost you less in 3 years !!!!.
4. The power is different between the 2012 C350 & the 2009 C63, but whether you race it every day while you are on the road ????
I used to drive 28-30K/year before I retired. I choose MB because the safety, not the MB brand. I burned a set of tires every years, I drove a 95 C280 (W202) until I retired (7 years/188K miles) trade it in for $2K for by boy's Scion !!!. If you choose the car for SAFETY, not much $ for maintenance, driving a lot of miles every years, 2012 or 2013 C350 is the way to go for the long run. Good luck with your decision.

needing a new engine actualy totaled out your previous c300? that kinda scares me lol.

I do alot of driving like you, and i had the choice to get an older c63 too, but the gas would have literally destroyed my wallet. its nature of the beat, yea sure you can drive the amg everyday that much but is it really worth it in the end?

With you driving that much I would go with the 350.

The C63 AMG is, in my opinion, one of the best cars ever created.

The W204 chassis is already awesome, and the C63 just made it even better. I wouldn't even doubt it.

Hey if u got money like that and can afford twice the car in gas...knock urself out...clearly a c63 is a better car...but the smarter choice for your driving situation .... c350 or even c300!

AMG. end of story. (stop worrying about gas price. double gas price, but triple fun driving guaranteed.)

Insurance?

Does anyone know since both cars are considered C class cars and are around the same cost if insurance would be significantly more on the C63 vs the C350 I'm extremely curious I am hoping someone here has had both and can share their personal experiance

I was curious too so I got a quick online quote - it would be more expensive for me to insure the 2012 C350, for an entire year, by ten dollars. I was expecting that the 09 C63 would cost more to insure.

the 350 will have the 'nicer' and updated interior since it's 2012-13? The AMG i hear is a beast but I don't know if I would want to daily drive it.

It's a tough decision but I would probably get the new car.

What insurance brand do you use, is there a preferred mercedes insurer? i had called in yesterday and they quoted an additional $70 dollars a month for the AMG compared to the c350. Then again I am a guy and only 23 but I use progressive and have almost every discount i can get. It looks like everyone is slit down the middle with a slight lean toward the C350. I'm actually surprised, I thought it would lean heavily one way or the other but thanks for all your opinions. I'm still waiting on the check form the insurance company so maybe we can get a few more opinions.

I'm insured through Geico. Keep in mind that I'm a little older than you (more like A LOT older), married and have kids. Geico probably thinks that I'd drive the C63 like a Sunday driver! Shows how little they know about me.
