2008 C350
Just came back from the Dealership!!

So i was at the dealership and a 2008 white C350 (AMG PACK) really caught my eye.

I ended up getting this car but the paperwork is still in procedure.

I just wanted to know if their are major things i should check?

It has all the car-fax reports and service history but the car did have TWO fender benders worth $5000. The dealership is telling me that their is no damage to the mechanical components of the car and it was just a fender bender. It only states the cost and the time the car was repaired on the car fax.

Im currently trying to get a 2 year warranty from the dealership added in to my total cost of the vehicle.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Let me know

Thanks.

Skip this car. You'll have hard time getting rid of it when time comes.

PS: You're on the wrong section of the forum.

Any fender benders worth more than 5k is risky. Skip it.

Car fax means nothing. I just rebuilt a M6 that the previous owner spun into a jersey wall. I've replaced three fenders and two bumpers and have a clean car fax. A clean c350 with AMG pack are rare but not tough to find. I found one in Florida and another in Texas with a basic search

^ + 1. Carfax can be easily avoided. Also, a 5 k repair is not much when it comes to these cars. A bumper, maybe hood and paint is 5 k easy.

Give the autocheck a look, I have had things show up on there before that arent on the carfax. Just another thing to make sure there isnt more than you expect.

This is the car http://www.goauto.ca/inventory/listi...-Class/70/792/

My heart is set on this car. But i will bring the price down since it has fender benders.

Also guys please consider this is WEstern Canada and cars are a bit more expensive than Eastern Canada ( Toronto ) or the USA

Personally, I would not worry too much about the fender benders. I have a black 2008 c350 and unfortunately last year a high school girl pulled out in front of me at an intersection on a rainy day. No structural damage only cosmetic and total bill came to $10k USD ! Repair was done at an authorized MB shop using only MB parts and car is good as new ( actually better than it was since the hood had some rock chips and now it looks brand new )

The carfax for my car shows the accident. I was thinking about trading in for a new model ( trying to wait until next year when my warranty is up ) and most dealers I have been talking to have been offering a decent trade in on the car despite the previous accident.

If the price is right and you like the car I would go for it.

Good luck !

Nick

First post says "I ended up getting this car" so all you guys telling him to skip it are a day late....

If you have any bargaining power remaining, not sure how if it is already written and signed, I would push for the 2 year warranty to be included at no cost for that price. I paid less for the same car with a very clean record and less mileage as a CPO from a MB dealer, so hope you at least negotiated that price point way down. (edit - missed the point about you being in Canada...)

Either way, if you bought it already and you love it, that is the main thing - It looks like a beauty, so congratulations on your new car and welcome!

(if you have not contractually committed, I kind of agree with shopping around a bit more...)

I see that this car did not belong to somebody's grandma. It has an aftermarket grill and clear corner lights.

Also, notice the lopsided C350 marking on the trunk lid which likely means it has a new lid.

At least it has the desirable P2 package but not Multimedia. And 18s plus the Panorama roof.

Looks like it's crash history is reflected in the price which will effect what you can sell it for later on. I would never call a 5 grand repair a fender bender.

I have not signed the papers for this car yet but have been approved. And yes i will make sure warranty is included in the price or else i will have to go with 08 g35xs eventhough im a former 540i owner. Lets see what happens i really love the car and wish to add a c63 exhaust from MB Edmonton. Ill keep u guys posted thanks for the tips so far Benz owners!

So i was at the Dealership today, and we were finalizing the deal. When i noticed they did not even give me the discount on the MSRP as I was promised. Later I was told that their dealership does not work on commission so he cannot lower the price in any way. When their partner dealership did lower the price for a 08 G35xs. A day before that i went to see the Merc and i tried to start it and it wouldnt start. The Dealer told me its the Key FOB not the car. But i also know that i had a BMW for over 2 year and put 100,000kms on it and my FOB always worked even when the batterys were low it still worked.

So now i asked them to include the warranty in the price and they are telling me that will not happen since they are already giving me the "dealer warranty price" But my base MSRP is 27,000 for the car and they added 2,000 for 20,000km 1 year warranty. I was not too happy seeing that the total price of the car came to 29,000. Which i did not appreciate as well because i was also told before heading to finance that something can be worked in to the price, NOTE: INTO THE PRICE.

Now the same person is refusing any of this. My father is co signing for me so he was not happy with the Dealership pulling his credit 3 times when Infiniti did it once with only one bank. Infiniti gave me a lot less hassle as well.

I really LOVE the car but its starting to seem like something is stopping me from achieving that. Now I am waiting for their call to see what they can work out. My father is also out of town so he sent his pay-stubs, company number (business owner), and signed the papers for co signing. He lives 12 hours away, but now the dealership want him to either come to the dealership and sign the papers or they will send it to a notary in my fathers town.

I am very confused about this whole situation and cannot wait any longer. I know I will regret taking the Infiniti over the MERC, because the Benz is in its own class and absolutely wonderful looking car.

If the car didn't start but all electrical worked- it could be the infamous EIS (Electronic Ignition) defect. It is somewhat expensive to repair $1500+.

I'd say scratch this one out. It seems like the dealer is making a fool out of you and your father. And no dealership in the world as far as I know does not give commission to their sales associates. As far as I know, dealers, finance managers, sales reps, all get commission out of the cars they sell. For them to tell you that is basically saying " I think your an idiot that will fall for anything I say".
If they call you without a good deal then tell them you'll be taking your business elsewhere. Don't fall for their BS.

I agree, I really wanted the Benz though and unfortunately there is only one C350 for sale in my city. My other options are a 07 335i or 08 G35xs Sedan.

That is unfortunate the dealer is playing games like that. Keep in mind that for most people a car is the second most expensive thing they ever buy ( with a house being first ) and should not be taken lightly.

Be firm, decide what you are willing to pay and what you think would be a fair deal. Decide what your drop dead price is and be ready to walk if the dealer is not willing to work with you. Remember, you are the one in control.

If it does not work out it's not meant to be. Don't be in a hurry, keep your eye out for exactly what you want ( don't settle for the BMW or Infiniti if they don't meet your needs )

Good luck with whatever you do. It looks like a nice car but don't let the dealer push you around.

Nick

I'd recommend that you just leave a message with them, via voicemail, email, or whatever, but making it clear that: They can call you IF AND ONLY IF they are willing to lower the price to xx,xxx out the door (I dunno how taxes are in Canada, but they could still be shady otherwise with tack on fees) and include the warranty, fix the ignition issue, etc. Otherwise, tell them to not contact you.

Wait and a clean C350 will eventually turn up. The G35x isn't exactly a terrible car either!

I am sure it would be hard to pass up on this one but from the sounds of it, you are much better off walking away.
