DIY - Facelift Tail Lights
#76
Well... too late just finished installing.
The load resisitors are 50W. As you can see from the photo I mounted them to floor panel. I've tied off the wires after this photo was taken. There is plenty of room around resistors for cooling.
I drove around for a half hour with lights on and checked the resistors. They were warm but I could still press my finger on them without burning. No label from China.

- Fit and finish are great with no issues installing.
- No error codes on dash.
- Unit does hum a bit from the resistors but you can't hear them inside car.
- Big improvement over old stock lights.
Nice job mounting it. You have to admit though, that is a very strange tail light setup.

Thanks.. Yes it's different alright. The whole unit is sealed so I couldn't check out the electronics. The resistors bring the wattage up to the OEM level and so no error codes are generated. The smoke lenses look a lot better than the bright red units IMHO. But to each thier own.

I got them from Instyleparts out of CA. You can also get them from Amazon:
The Fog LEDs are on the top row. They are not lit up in the photos and they also don't light up when breaking.

That's nice. Are those replicas?
Btw what bulbs are you used for eyelids? Yesterday I'm just try with LED and have error on my instrumen cluster. My car is C300 AMG Sport 09.

That's a bummer. I still have OEM bulbs right now but going to order clear side markers next. Search the forum on "LED eyelids" for help.

I went with OEM because the aftermarket tail lights won't work with my car

Those aftermarket tail lights will NOT work with c63 and factory led turn signal. Some got it working by messing with the wires but there will be error on the dash. So don't waste your time. If you have c63 or factory led then go with OEM + program SAM.

That's pretty much how long in keeping my w204 too. But I think I'm done modding for now. Probably put the money into something else other than cars xD too be honest I think spending about $500 for the OEM lights, $100 for the programming and $100 for overnight shipping is not worth it for me. The looks is better but not for $700 and people don't know c class won't know what changed.
