Should a rip in armrest of the door panel be under warranty?
I have a small rip in the armrest of the driver side door panel (see the attached pictures). The dealer said it is not covered under the warranty. I also spoke to the mercedes rep from MB head office in Toronto and he told me the same. Rather than trying to determine whether this is a defect of the material, they focused on how the rip was made. The car is driven by me only and I really can't see the force of closing the door could cause this rip. I wear a wedding band with rounded edges but it is not sharp enough to cause the rip.
Anyway, I want to see you opinion about this. Should this be covered under the warranty? What do you think?
ps. the car only 7 months old

Every dealer has people that come around on a regular basis to repair damage like yours, remove small dents and touch up paint defects on trade-ins.
Just ask the dealer when the upholstery guy will be in next time and pay him direct. It's an easy fix.
Do not do this through the dealer because they will add their markup.
