Picked up my new 2013 C300 4 matic! Some questions

Hello,

I just sold my 05 S2k (loved the car) and bought a new 2013 polar white C300 4 matic with xenon/sports/premium (Canada).

I only have 70 km on it so far and have some questions.

1. Is it normal that there is a burning smell when I step out of the car after a short drive? I am assuming it's because the car is new but anyone else notice this when they first got it? I searched but have been getting some mixed answers.

2. I don't have navi..but I see lights under the odometer settings. Is there where I can change the settings of my welcome lighting? I have the xenon package so is there a way that if I unlock/lock the car, the led or headlights come on? (I don't have keyless entry)

3. When I unlock the car, there is no sound and when I lock the car there is only a small honk sound. Is there anyway to change to a beep? Are 2013 all honks when locking?

Thanks

My 2011 is a honk as well. If you scroll through the LED screen on the speedometer, you should see convenience lighting, which I think turns on the lights when you unlock the car, mine does at least. Just look around and test it out, can't hurt.

Thanks aamirani!

Also, how do you disable eco mode permanently so that it doesn't turn back on after restarting the car? I tried holding onto the eco button in center for a long time and it won't do it permanently.

As for the contacts my Galaxy s3 is by first, last name.......but when I loaded the contacts...it's still by last, first. How do you go about changing this?

You can't change Eco mode. You have to engage it everytime you start the car. Not really that much work tho.

That odor will disappear eventually when the original coatings burn off the exhaust system. It took more than a year before I didn't smell it from my 2008 C300.

It should be in your ODO settings.

It's the screen on the speedometer, just use the controls on the steering wheel and go right to Settings I believe. Then just scrolls up and down through those and look around. I can't remember which it is exactly, but it's pretty self explanatory.

Go to vehicle settings, then to Lighting, then scroll down through the options and there should be something for welcome lights. Turn it on and next time you unlock your car, it should light up the LEDs and puddle lamps.

Your salesperson should have spent the time to walk you through everything including pairing your phone for you. They should have sat in the car with you and made sure you knew how to do everything. That's a big part of the final sales service and in fact MBUSA (here in the US) will email you a questionnaire to fill out that specifically asks if your salesperson took the time to orient you with everything (and including showing and introducing you to the service department, etc..)

Go back to the dealership and have them show you everything. Or at the very least, read your owner's manual. Everything is there. And you can even download a .pdf file of both the car's manual and the COMAND manual from the MB website. Log in to the owner's section. There are plenty of videos to walk you through everything, and tons of info about your car. They have plenty of resources, it just takes some effort and initiative on your part.

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach him to fish and....well, you know the story.

When you receive the survey make sure to fail the salesperson IF he didn't do these things to you. It will be a guarantee that he will be in trouble not to mention he will loose a lot of sales perks because of a F mark from a new sales customer. Be carefull though as if you had a nice time with the salesperson it might be wise to call him and ask him to walk you through the car and not burn any bridge as sometimes those nice salesperson will help you in the future if you will be a returning customer. This happened to me when MB canada has this big sales event...my salesperson was running crazy as he was delivering 12 cars on the day I picked up mine and he barely can talk so I just told him to give me the keys as I know the car in and out already and just attend to those who didn't had any MBs before.
