Why all the ECO start-stop hate?

I got my 2013 C350 4matic last week and so far i am loving it. I actually really like the ECO feature but on these forums people seem to hate it.

It's a little jerky but not bad at all.
No hesitation when you take your foot off the brake (or hit the gas if you are in "hold" mode)
It's good for the environment and saves gas.

sometimes if the parameters are not met it will not engage.

What don't you like about it?

It comes standard on all the new CDI vehicles

Personally speaking for myself I don't mind it but prefer to not use it, it's a case of just not being used to the operation of a stop start system.

I really wouldn't understand why people would be concerned in any way about the stop start system

It dosn't really matter whether anyone likes it or not, if it's there and one dosn't like it - simple just turn it off, if it's there and one likes it - simple leave it on and let it do its thing, if it's not included on a particular vehicle - simple no need to even concern yourself about it

The ECO function is standart on all vehicles after 2011 - even on M5 and SL500.

Although, you can turn it off, no matter if you like it or not, every time you start the car, it turns on automatically.

Still, this is a nice function which saves fuel and cuts the CO2 emissions so I, personally, keep it on.

With the Start-Stop feature on my C350, I have been able to achieve 31-33 mpg mixed city/highway driving, and about 24 mpg in town. The advertised mpg is 19 city/29 highway

The first few days of driving in the ECO mode took getting used to, but now I am a fan of the system

One concern is the amount of wear and tear it places on components of the vehicle.

That was one of my initial concerns too, but I have researched it quite a bit just for my own curiosity (even though I rarely use the feature myself as previously stated) and it seems MB have covered their bases.

Compared with non stop start equipped MB's the starter motor is different, the battery/batteries are different, the oiling system is different, the fueling system is different and specific engine internal components are different, my MB dealer assures me they won't suffer any extra premature wear and tear from use of the stop start.

I'm sure people with more knowledge on the subject can add more on the topic

And the transmission is modified with it's own dedicated fluid which CANNOT be used in other 7G transmissions, so don't ask.
