About to get a 2008 C220, good buy?

Hi,

My wife needs a new car and we wanted to get a brand new more fuel efficient small suv. In the process we stumbled upon a 2008 C220 Classic C-class in navy blue. We were not looking for a Benz but we felt in love with it.

Our budget was around US$26-$28K, and we got the benz down to 22K. The car has 53,000 Km (33K Miles) and it has been very, very well kept.

Since we will be paying for this car for at least 3 years, I wonder if it's a good investment considering we could buy a more modest new car for a little more instead of an "older" benz.

I know you cant compare a Benz to say a Hyundai/Kia/Honda SUV but I would like to know what do you guys think.

BTW, here in my country, there are tons of BMWs but very few MB. in fact I have not seen any other w204 at least in my city, so I would be owning an "exotic" along the prestige that comes with the 3 pointed stars.

So if we sell our car this week, we might be on our very first benz by this weekend!

Thanks, but will all respect, I think that YOU are in the wrong thread since this the one for w204 sedans, and my soon-to-be benz is in fact w204, is just that its a diesel

This is the right forum

I've had a C220 CDI and I may say that it is a great car with an extremely fuel efficient engine, with decent acceleration. You can get 7,0 l/100km, urban driving and less than 5.0 l/100km on the highway. The only disadvantage I can think of for this diesel engine is that it is a bit noisy...

thanks, I had a chance to test drive the car in a residential area (constantly stopping and going over speed bumps) and nice backroads as well, and although I could tell by ear that it was a diesel, it did not bother me much. Acceleration was really good. I really loved the way t drove, and being my first Benz that pointed star on the hood felt sooooo nice on your self esteem too ;-)

Is the price that I am getting good given the low amount of miles and year of the car?

The price looks good for a 53,000km car, however, it depends on where you are located, the options that the car has (automatic, navigation, avantgarde and etc.) and, of course, the condition of the car...

I, personally, would spend $22K on an "old" MB any day over a brand new Kia/Hyundai/Toyota or what ever. Never had any passion for them whatsoever.

Whether it is a good deal depends on where you are. Since you talking about kilometers and diesel C-class, it's obvious you are not in the US, so can't help you there. Update your info and maybe somebody from your area will chime in.

In any case, 33K miles on a diesel-MB is generally nothing.
