Can't find a good dealership to change my tranny fluid in south Texas!!
I've called several dealerships in my area about a transmission fluid change with the torque converter drain, but they keep telling me that quote "mercedes recommends only a regular transmission fluid change, the fluid in the converter doesn't need to be changed bcuz it doesn't get mixed with the oil in the pan"!!! Wtf!!! And get this the price was $462!! Hahaha I just hung up on him! I'm located in Brownsville, tx (im in the most southern most part of texas, so southern in fact that if I were to tiptoe I'd basically see Mexico!!) anyone know where to get a good transmission fluid change (the right way!) anywhere in south Texas??!! Doesn't have to be in my area, I don't mind driving to Houston or San Antonio! As long as its worth it! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I haven't seen too many members here from south Texas, but I'm sure if/when somebody pops in, they'll give you pointers. Should have some at least in SA.

donlv01, I had the same problem you had and ended up doing it myself. My suggestion is to find one of the MB dealerships you don't mind doing business with. Bring in a copy of the WIS 722.9 service pdf (available on here) which clearly instructs draining the torque convertor. Some service advisors do not know what they are talking about off the top of their head, but when confronted with the WIS, there isn't much else to say. My dealership tried to explain to me my transmission didn't have a torque convertor drain plug. The thread in my signature has pictorial proof that the torque convertor drain plug does exist.

EDIT: Also, MB dealerships charges an arm and leg for the fluid. Not sure if you are comfortable finding a good indy shop, or doing it yourself, but the fluid can be had for probably less than half of what MB would charge you. I purchased mine at around $11-12 quart. IIRC, MB charges well over $20/quart. When we are talking about 9 quarts, it adds up. YMMV.
