around $150 +shipping

just had to order a few separate pieces and put them together. the fit is really tight though. It'd fit better if I didn't use heat shields, but they are worth having to block the heat from the engine.

"Here are the part numbers from Spectre that you will need to build your own: (2) #8708 4 inch long X 3 inch diameter chrome tubes, (2) 8771 3" to 3" couplers, and (2) 8138 (white) or 8132 (red) or 8136 (blue) P4-style cone air filter. (2) 8130 chrome heat shields"

So I have this exact same setup, and I was wondering if you think it is more effective than the stock setup? The reason I am asking, is because I was thinking about it, and it seems like the air flow is going through two sets of filters now instead of just one set of filters. And the conical filters are pulling in more hot air than the stock setup because it doesn't have the tubing to focus the air being pulled by the intake to only suck in outside air. Basically, the conical filters are pulling in the air around the engine, which is being heated by the engine heat, hence it's pulling in hotter air. Now, if this was a true Cold Air Intake design where the filters are located by the fog lights area, it would definitely be more effective, but aside from looks, I don't know if this is an improvement in performance. What do you think?

well first of all you need to remove stock air filters.
(you can see how it's done in this thread https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...tallation.html

Heat shield that I have there seem to do a good job blocking the engine heat. I definitely didn't notice decrease in power at all, it's hard to judge tho.
These filters allow a lot more air flow to the engine. as for the temperature of the air - I'm sure it's pretty cool at a higher speeds.

It's somewhat surprising that filters of this quality would be installed on this application.

Can an improved high flow filter that does not require oiling be substituted?

Thanks
