RADO C250 Performance Parts Dyno Numbers

We just did our first round of testing with the RADO parts for the C250. We tested in 3 different configurations. We tested the car stock, with our non heat treated off-road down pipe and with our non heat treated off-road down pipe and our intercooler. We saw some great numbers so you can expect some real noticeable differences with our parts installed on the car.

I have put all the numbers in an easy to read spreadsheet so that you can easily compare everything. We will also be testing the car at Irwindale drag strip in all of the different configurations as well.

It was 83 degrees, 29.74 in-Hg and Humidity was at 33% and all dyno runs were made on the same Dynojet within 2 hours.

Too bad the table didnt start at 2000 RPM, as the 229 lb-ft claimed by MB is supposed to begin at 2200 RPM and continue through 4300 RPM. In "normal" driving conditions this range is more advantageous. Impressive increases at 4000 RPM, hopefully the same improvement is realized at half that velocity.

Paperwise, that's pretty impressive to see 40%~ whp gains at just 4000rpm. Any opinion with the butt dyno?

The butt dyno will yield some very significant gains. You will really notice some huge improvements when you line up against another C250.

If you saw the curves, you would know that the 44 whp gain is really just a result of the fat torque there. The mod's whp is 150, vs 185 at 5800+ rpm.

Look for max torque, and max hp, for the real increases.

Staff@World: Did you do anything with timing, fuel, or pedal response to improve the initial lag at take off?

We do not offer any tuning solutions for this platform at this time.

But your website notes that your mods (at least DP last I checked) are better paired with your tune (These Off-Road downpipes from RADO offer customers the largest increase in power. They do not have any of the factory emission components in place so they are for off road use only. You can combine these with out stage 3 tune for the biggest increase in power and you will not have any check engine light associated with this combination when using the stage 3 tune.)

Plus there's this- RADO Engine Computer Upgrade for Mercedes Benz C250 http://www.world-motorsports.com/RAD...&searchSize=12

We have not been able to get the price of these tunes down to an affordable number yet where we can offer them for sale for the C250.

So will the downpipe work on the car without a tune? Are we able to get sound clips of the downpipe and or the muffler sectiono installed?

All dyno numbers posted are with a non-tuned vehicle.

I am impressed, now just needed are a TCU Adaptive Learning lobotomy and an ECU tune, and the C250 will be complete. Still would like to see the improvements between 2000 and 4000 RPM if possible.

We could not get any clean runs without the car shifting gears in that RPM range.

There are many more products needed for this car other than an ECU tune and we plan on addressing all of them. We are constantly working on parts and testing them to see how they work. We will have some more parts done for this car shortly.

Arent paddle shifters and "M" mode available in the C250? Thought that "S" mode maintained revs in a gear until commanded or reached a 5000+ RPM limit.

I think it's pretty good the downpipe doesn't throw codes without being tuned.

I am not saying that it won't throw codes and I would assume that at some point it should. We have had it on our car for a couple of weeks now and it has not thrown a code but I find that a little weird.

Negative. I've been very discontent with the MB tranny ever since I got the car half a year ago (please refer to the threads I've created). Also, there's no "M" mode in U.S. spec, sadly...

I guess what STAFF meant was that when they did the dyno on a designated gear, the car kicked down to a previous gear when they stepped on it. This could've been fixed with BMS "block" that they place underneath the gas pedal; unfortunately, that application only works for BMW...

FWIT, when my previous car had test pipes, it didn't throw a code 90% of the time. And when it did throw CEL, it lasted for a day. This is broscience, but I think it has something to do with temperature or air density or something as it threw the code more often during extremely hot SoCal weather.

I was going to have a local shop Fab a dp but they told me it will throw a code as they've tried it on previous benz's. What can try us a non fouler which will position the o2 sensor farther from the hole so the readings aren't as dense.

Sadly no, the prices right now are quite high and I think most ppl feel it really wouldn't give much of a gain to justify the price. I'm planning on having one made with a 200 cell cat but that's low on my list. Worst case if it does throw a code you probably just need to install a o2 spacer.
