Power Steering Out

So a few days ago I hit a speed bum very hard (did not see it) and the power steering was making a weird noise. the dealer service adviser described it as to much fluid moving. He told me that the power steering filter must have been knocked lose so the fluid was bypasing the filter and making the noise. His solution was to replace a few parts, would cost a few 100$ and would be done by the end of the day. so I said ok. Parts on my bill sr 62 reservoir, power steering & oil tank & gasket & hydraulic oi ended up being about 300.00. Two days later they finished and it still made the nose. That really pissed me off and thin he said it was the Rack In Pinion and that cost like $5000?! I was about to go off on this guy. Second time had has been wrong about a problem on my car. So I just took the car home and will take it somewhere else on monday. I thought it would be ok to go to the dynamos game last night but that was a mistake. On the way into town my power steering stopped working for a second or two thin came back on but felt really weird. On they way home I was in stop and go traffic for like 40 min. Got off and took the hardy toll road and thin my power steering completely went out. The first noise went away and a new noise started. A whining noise that matches the engine rpms. So dose anyone have any idea what to replace?

please excuse any spelling or grammar errors

It sounds as though the pump has failed & generating insufficient pressure. Your dealer SA sounds like a disaster.

Get someone that knows what they are doing to check it all properly. Its not a complex system.

If it is the expensive rack I'd file an insurance claim. That's what it is for.

And yes, your SA sounds like a typical MBUSA dealer SA.

It's the power steering pump. I have the pump but I also need the high pressure hose from the pump to the rack. But I cant find the part number? Can someone help me find the part number. And does anyone know how hard it is to install?
