RPM needle bouncing up and down

2010 C300 Sport.

The RPM needle is going up and down while in drive or park ever so slightly. About .25k RPM or so (probably lower). It happens with A/C off or on. It's hard to see if unless you look for it but sometimes it moves up and down a lot.

Is this normal?

How did you find out it was the EGR valve sensor? Would the car give out a reading saying it was bad?

I haven't had any error messages or anything other than a TPMS once.

Did you have an error message that indicated what the problem was or did they just end up looking around the whole vehicle for a problem?

I don't have any error codes at the moment.

I took it in and they told me that it is normal due to the a/c compressor pulling in air. But problem is it happens even with A/C off.

Anybody have any insight?

Does anyone have an answer for this? If it's normal? My 2012 c250 rpm bounces ever so slightly on a cold start. It stops after it's kinda warmed up. But if I tried, I could feel the car shudder a bit with the needle. Should I bring this in? I have extended warranty.

I've experience extremely rough idle with my jag in the past but because it was never tuned up on time.

I'm not sure on this car but it can often be the first sign of a vacuum leak on may cars.
