disable seatbelt alarm - taxi-car some medical patients CANT use the belt
Went as far as getting a legal licence to remove the PASSANGER seat alarm, now i need to ficure out how to get it done. Using a hook from the belt is ILLEGAL even if the warning was legaly removed, some safety law. I know one person who lost his taxi-licence for two weeks along with fines for using that hook... A bit overkill imo but taxis are carefully regulated here.
The permit allowes me to "mechanicly or electronicly modify the car if needed" but rumour has it its impossible to do with STAR... the lock for the hook does have a wire going in it, anyone seen where this wire mounts?
I do lot of patient-transfers and surgery patients cant have anything extra on their chests, same goes for pregnant women and ppl with casts etc. Also l might add that leaving the seatbelt behind your back is a very easy way to get a ticket, also not a very comfy way to travel 10-300km
These hospital-trips bring food to my table and the reason i got them was because i said i could equip my car to suit the patients needs. The alarm was programmed off in the previous car but the facelift-model is giving me problems.

When i had my bmw, there were coding options to remove some features from the factory..the seatbelt alarm was an option. I have never looked into doing it with a mercedes, however. Have you checked with a local dealer?

You did read and understand the whole thing? Those seatbelt hooks are ILLEGAL to use. I still need to offer the customer an option use the belts "unhindered" as says the law.
Basicly, one phonecall, the quality-inspectors check the tapes of the security cam mounted in every taxi, see me use one of those and boom! Adios taxi-licence and big fines. Yes, its that bad and yes, ive seen it happen.

I'm just making assumptions here, but play along:
There's probably a simple mechanical switch in there. The seat belt clasp either opens or closes that switch to tell the car that it is being worn.
Get in there, disconnect the harness from the latch, figure out which two pins to jump, and it will probably eliminate the alarm. At that point, if you wanted to get fancy, you could probably wire a switch to turn the seatbelt reminder on/off.

Theres a wire going to the unit, may need to track where that connects in the seat, unplug it, see what kinda connector it has and get myself a similar and just connect the wires... Just dont want to pull the seat apart.

I was searching around for some parts and came across this nifty item and remembered this thread... Seat Occupation Sensor Emulator

I know on a lot of older car you could be able to shut off the seat belt light by inserting a thick paper clip into the slot. This had something to do with metal touching metal and connecting the current to the sensor, thus shutting it off.
I shall try this later today when i get into my car. Ill let you know.

I'm not entirely positive as my chinese is limited (maybe another forum member can help out) but I did see a whole whack of these units on that site, some with better english descriptions than others. I think the gist of it is you plug this thing in between the seat sensor and the computer, similar to those VIM modules, and it overrides the sensor and sends a signal to the computer that there is no occupant in the seat so the alarm never goes off.

Id rather have "occupant in the seat and seatbelt on" rather then no occupant... No occupant, no airbag, no airbag, big red splatter on windshield... "Dat be bad m'kay"

Maybe you can get one of those clips that look like the end of a seat belt.
Just messing with you.
Also stop being so rude and maybe someone with the information you need will answer.
