Bad news Good news...new tires/gouged wheel
Well, I curbed the "insert expletive here" out of my AMG 7 spoke wheel on my 2013 C350 which left a large gouge in my wheel and a cut sidewall in my front right OEM Pirelli tire. That's the bad news. The good news is two fold, 1) I've got a friend who can fix my wheel; 2) I'm getting new tires all the way around. I'll be trying out some tires that I've been excited about since they were released...Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's. Anybody else tried these yet?

But, wondering what you meant by "for the price".....these are not inexpensive and is there a better all season ultra high performance tire around at any price?

Hell no they aren't INexpensive...I agree. The rears alone run about $220 each. I have the AMG 7 spoke 18" wheels which adds a little to the cost I believe. Glad to hear they are getting good reviews so far. Anybody had them long enough to see how many miles you get out of the rears? From what I hear I can expect the rears to get about half the miles of the fronts.

That is my experience with my current Pilot Sport AS+. More than one tire expert has told me this is typical for rwd. I've replaced my rears, but still have the first set of fronts. When all of these go, AS3 are next, but I've found better pricing on tirerack.com, perhaps due to 17 v 18".

Update
I got the new tires put on Friday. So far I've noticed that they are much louder than the stock Pirelli P Zeron Nero's. They seem stickier, but definitely more road noise (which I'm not a fan of).

Those seem quite overinflated. Did you get the AS3? We just put them on an E Class and they were much quieter than the Conti DWS they replaced. Tomorrow morning, before you drive anywhere, reset your pressures to the value on the inside fuel door label, and then re-assess.
