Question Plastic switches starting to flake

My poor car, it's getting old! So the disc on the steering wheel that controls the volume has had a bit of the black surface chip off, revealing the white plastic disc beneath it, as well as my driver's side window switch. The black material they used to coat this seems pretty industry specific, but I'd really like to just be able to reapply it, I'm sure it applies like a paint, rather than replace it. Does anyone know of a replacement paint for these parts

I've seen several C class sport models with chipped paint on the steering wheel and power window buttons. There's no getting around they look cheap. In fact I consider it a design defect. Looking forward to hearing of any workable solutions short of replacing the steering wheel and the modules with the switches.

It's actually a PVA paint, some with mineral/ceramic filling. Originally designed for TV bezels & the like.

Sony gave me some at their TV plant in Malaysia some years back. I have no idea where you can get it.

I'm suffering the same issue! Has anyone as yet found a paint fix? I'm not convinced the sticker replacement would actually be an aesthetically positive fix?

This was actually just gone over by JPc300 in https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ns-anyone.html

It looks like http://controlbuttonrenu.com/ is a good place to get replacements for chipped button paint.

I had the same issues, but I don't have any chipping on a "symbol" ie, window or A/c. Just the edges of the window switches and my CD player (think the previous owner shoved the discs in without paying attention as to where the opening was.)
Go to either a hobby shop or a store that has a model car, plane, ship dept.

Find the Testor paints and get 1149 FLAT BLACK. About $1.50/bottle. It's just about a perfect match.

Make sure to clean the parts to be painted with alcohol (I work in a hospital, so I used alcohol pads), let it dry good and peel any raised chipped areas. The paint will stop the other areas from chipping. Buy a bag of small artist brushes and only use them once. Don't try to clean them and use them over. They'll get stiff and they are cheap enough to use and dispose of when done.
Take your time and don't try to layer the paint on. Just a quick once over and a possible quick second touch up works best. As said before, always use a new brush, shake the bottle very well.

Thanks I will see if I can track some down here in Oz. I have a hobby style airbrush set, I'll try spraying instead of a brush, if I can find the paint.
