My 2011 C300 caught on fire last Saturday.
It caught fire from engine on 12/07/2013.
I was on my way from California to Las Vegas. I was about 20 miles past Barstow when all the warning lights started flashing. I started to see smoke coming from under the hood of the car, so I pulled over immediately and opened it. Inside, the engine and the area underneath the engine was on fire, so I attempted to put the fire out but was unable to.
Claim to my insurance and MBCS.
What I should do? and What I can get from this issue?

Sorry to hear of this .
The main thing is to be not out of pocket & to know why it happened.
Has there been a mechanical investigation as to the cause ?
Thanks for your reply

The insurance company investigated today so I will get the result tomorrow.
Mercedes will investigate as soon as they can from tomorrow.
Mercedes Benz is good at compensation for the loss?
I have no idea what I have to get compensation from insurance or Mercedes.

Was the car modified in any way? Reason why I ask is because I personally know of an incident where an aftermarket springs install eventually went wrong and almost caused a fire due to the tire rubbing against suspension components.
Good luck with your claim. I'm sure MB will do their best in redirecting the blame.
FWIW, I recall reading we should never open the hood with an engine fire. The increased oxygen supply can cause a dangerous flare up. Leave the fire fighting to the pros.
Good luck on the repair or replacement.

edgalang : I never modified the car.
The car was total loss...
"I'm sure MB will do their best in redirecting the blame."
"MBUSA will do everything possible not to take the blame."
Really?? T_T
Thank you all
I made the run to LV on Thur 12/5 and returned on Sat 12/7 in the am, may have driven right by you the other direction.
As long as you did not mod it after the purchase you should be fine, do you know if you have any GAP coverage so there is no depreciation argument between you and the co for the difference between your purchase price and the BB value?
best of luck and post the results
