Please HELP, Buy vs leasing

Hey guys. This is my first post, not even sure what to do.

So I need your guys advice on either lease a 2014 a C250 MSRP of $40,100 for 1500 OTD (includes first payment and aquisition fee, MDV), 360 (including tax) for 24 months. 12,000 miles/year.

Or just Buy the car for $32,800 + tax.

Thanks in advance

A few things to think about.....

If you only keep a car two or three years and feel compelled to trade it in, the economics of leasing are in your favor. If you drive high mileage or intend to keep it longer, the absolute lowest cost way to own a car is to buy it and keep it for a good length of time.

As to the 205, every successive generation of vehicle eventually deteriorates the resale value of the prior generation. However, this has already been factored into the residual value by ALG for the current lease rates, so it should be a wash either way. As to wanting the 205 as your next car, it depends on your taste. Not everyone here is thrilled to know of a longer/larger car which has softened up its exterior design to resemble a mini S Class, and has a nav screen which looks like someone dropped in an iPad at the last minute. OTOH, it will have a leap in technology and feature content. So, while it may be very attractive to some, don't automatically assume newer=better until you've had hands on. Might be worth a trip to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in a few weeks to see it in person before you decide. And, as with most things, the answer will be........"it depends".

Never buy the first model year. I have made that mistake twice in my life. My 2008 W204 was in the shop so often it was not funny at one point I was making appointments for repairs when I picked my car up and was getting ready to make a lemon law claim. My 2011 had zeros problems the only time in the shop was scheduled maintenance the 2013 so far has also been very good but I have only had it since July.

Honestly I would lease it for two years because by the time the lease is up, you will have the option to buy the car and also, the lease will end by the time the W205 is in its second year of production. Its never a good idea to buy the first model year because that is essentially the "test" year when the car is usually going to have a lot of issues.

I like leasing. You can still negotiate the lease price from the $32k purchase price. And a lease gives you protection against diminished value if you ever have a fender-bender or more serious accident. Those count against you if you OWN the car because it's your depreciating asset that is damaged. If it's a lease, it's not your problem.

If at the end of the lease you still like the car, buy it (either from MBFS if residual is fair or the dealer if you turn it in).

Thanks for all the reply. I also have a couple of questions, How's the maintenance on a lease? Can i just let a certified MB mechanics do it? or do I have to go the MB? But I know Schedule A and B together is about 600-700.

Other question for Spyked is : they took over 7k off MSRP, how do I get them to take more off???

In December 2012 I paid $37,500 on a C250 Lux with an MSRP of $43k. So I think you are doing very well on price.

I am pretty sure the the lease doesn't require you to use MB dealers for service. BUT, you WILL be forced to prove you had proper service from your Indy. I know it's actually against the law to cancel someone's warranty if they don't do dealer service - you are permitted to DIY if you want. Just have to keep receipts.

Another good thing about leasing? Add the $600 for A and B service to the lease - then you are only paying for a portion of it. They will offer the "prepaid" service to you. It's actually a fair deal (even though, overall, the service prices are stupid).
