Radio stops working when rear defroster is turned on
Guys,
I have a 6 month old CPO 2010 W204. I noticed today that when i turn the rear windshield defroster on my radio stops working...like static interference. Some station still worked but there was interference.
Is this just me or has anyone else noticed it? I installed a backup camera in my car a month or so ago but haven't notice any issues from it. Can that be causing the issue?
I guess one way to be sure is to disconnect power to the backup camera and see if it resolves it but I figured I ask here.

Tried disconnecting power to the backup camera to see if it makes a difference and it doesn't. Time to use the warranty.

The radio antenna is part of the rear window - it looks just like the defroster 'wires' on the glass. Sounds like there's a short between the two, or the defroster is putting out too much power, or the antenna is somehow damaged. Sorry I can't be more specific. Sounds like it's going to have to be inspected / tested to find out.

Possibly damaged by applying or trimming a tint or water from doing a tint.
Does your remote unlocking from a distance work reliably?
While very rare what you describe can mean a new rear window.

Dam that would be crazy. I don't have tints. Rear defroster works but generates interference. Good thing I am still in warranty and hopefully this is covered.

arc201's theory make sense. The backup camera which is recently install may be a coincident, but i don't think that is the actual cause. Take it to the dealer while it's under warranty and have it checked out.

Thanks have a appointment for this coming Friday. Hopefully i dont need a new windshield. Those things never go back the same as original.

So MB is replacing the rear windshield to repair the issue. I told the manager that I was a bit concerned about it because I didnt want to end up with wind noise or any other issues because most of the time things never go back together like it came out of factory.
He assured me that they do it all the time and the work would be done on site by MB technicians who are very familiar with it.
Hoping it gets done right.....will update again.

Got my car back Thursday. Looks like they did an excellent job of replacing the windshield. I cant tell it was replaced. No wind noise or issues.
I had also complained about my front suspension making a noise over bumps, so they replaced the front struts and installed "upgraded dampers". NICE!
