Are the sedan and coupe taillights the same? I am thinking of these on eBay for my 2014, because I want to tint them and keep the stockers 100% stock.

The resistor I have which is 10 ohm completely disables the light even during braking. Maybe a lower ohm will do the trick but it will also dim the braking so for safety reason, not going to do the resistor mod.

Tried looking for a used 2012 SAM but no luck either. Otherwise I need someone with 2012 that will allow me to install my SAM in it so it can be programmed. But I don't know of anyone. There's also someone here who could get a module that's plug and play for $250 but no response after PM.

So I think I'm SOL on this one and probably just going to return them. If you have 2009 or earlier this would be a good alternative vs buying OEM as they look exactly the same and probably are Euro OEM ones. The money you save ($200) can be used to get your SAM programmed.

Just an update. I scrapped the resistor idea since I bought a 2012 SAM on ebay UK. Thanks to w204_Generic for showing it to me! Also it looks like all the ebay seller have pulled these off their sites. I'm not really sure what's going on there. Supposedly wrong fitment is what they explained to a member that I referred the lights to. My local shop was able to get into the menu on his 2009 c63 so he was eager to buy one. But they refunded his $ and did not ship his order. If any of you bought one of these and want to sell it to him, let me know. Here's my car with the parking lights on. Overall I've spend $289 for tail lights and $296 for SAM.

Your car looks 4 years newer! Congratulations! Those tail lights actually do look exactly like OEM, good find! and you're welcome. Time to move on to other mods, now that you got that out of the way.

Now I gotta finish my quad tips next or might skip it and do the FL steering mod instead 😊

I have installed the same tail lights but smoked lens and work like a charm. My tails came equipped with resistors, installation was just a simple plug and play. Awsome!

Oh! btw, no SAM re-coding or replacement was required! Cool!!!

This looks incredible! I really hope they put these up for sale again, and I'm glad you got it all worked out. I have a 2009, so the SAM should be accessible, and I don't need to buy a 2012+ SAM, right?

If you can find someone with older DAS then give him the pdf in the link I provided in one of my post to try it. Someone got it done and the shop I went to can get into a 2009 SAM so I really see no reason why you would need a 2012 SAM. But ya too bad they pulled them. If you really want them you can go to parts.com and buy the US spec one with red turn signal but it'll cost you about $500. If you can find someone to program your SAM for 100-150 then it's still not a bad deal.

This is already known info all over the forum regarding those other ebay ones. I had them first but returned them. They are great cheaper alternative that's hassle free. But they do not look exactly like oem. Very close though. Just be careful where you place those resistors as they get really hot. There's not a whole lot of room for them on the driver side. I'm really glad the one I bought had cosmetic issue and was forced to return them and didn't have to worry about the resistors.

Unfortunately not. You're gonna have to look in eBay UK for euro ones or buy the US spec ones at parts.com

my theory is that these were unbranded from the manufacturer of the lights. i doubt merc makes their own headlight and tail lights.

you can get BMW xenons directly from the manufacturer (magneti marelli) for less than half the price. the only difference is that they lack the branding.

with that said, does anyone know who makes merc lights?

DEPO has some facelift style LED tail lights that are made for 08-11. I'm assuming this means they don't require recoding the rear SAM and don't give any errors, but I don't think it explicitly said that anywhere.

nice find! Those are exact OEM look but they already added the resistors so possible that it won't need sam reprogramming. It says smoked but it looks like it's the standard color. Also says won't work if your stock have led turn signals already. Probably a good idea to email the seller to make sure the resistor eliminates the fogs and brake light halfway lit problems.

Cool. Post some night pics when you get them. I'm interested to know if they eliminated the fogs and brake light issues. Looks like you bought the last one. They sell another with smoke led side markers too.

I see why it says red/smoke. The tail lights are red but the turn signal are smoked. I kinda like it. Would look great on dark colored cars.

yup, will post pics when i install them. I like the smoked portion. should look neat on the obsidian black.

in other news, someone either threw a ball into or kicked the driver side side vent on my front bumper, and cracked it. So i had to buy those carbon side vents and an arkym replica lip to match it.

expensive day for me, but the end result should be cool.

oh crap i think i've made a huge mistake...

the auction states
FOR 2008-2011 MERCEDES-BENZ W204 C CLASS 4DR SEDAN
(WILL NOT FIT ON MODELS EQUIPPED WITH FACTORY LED TAIL LIGHTS)

I didn't realize the amg pre-facelift lights were quasi-LED... I'm not sure if they mean it won't fit on facelift cars or it won't fit on 2008-2011 pre-facelift cars with the semi-led lights.

Ya it does state that and i posted in on post 65. I don't know what the difference is to be honest as far as compatibility goes. So maybe cancel the order since it didn't ship yet?

I think they mean it won't work correctly. It should fit.

I wonder why it wouldn't work. My stock has led turns and the ones I bought works fine. So it's not because they added resistors to the led turns or the ones I bought wouldn't work. If you're gonna be out 30 might be worth while to test it anyway.

sorry typing on my phone so I make a lot of grammatical errors.

i have a feeling i'm out of luck on this one because his other auctions explicitly state that the led tails won't work on pre-facelift amg models.

looks like i'm stuck getting the oem facelift tails and reprogramming the module. probably not worth it in that case.

I'm curious to know why it won't work so I emailed the seller. Waiting for reply. Unless someone here knows the technical reason.
