That'll be a fair bit in terms of cost to tend to that. Probably minimum $2500 at a reputable shop. Let me guess, an overweight soccer mom was driving that Astro? From time to time I think I should install a dash cam because of all the crackhead drivers around.

Almost. She was a disturbed animal lover. She threatened to kill me whilst talking on the phone with 911. "He totaled my car!!! He hit me from behind. He was speeding. Get a cop here now before I kill this kid." Then later, on another call, she was telling someone, "I just want him to go away. I want him away from me. Make him go away." ...all the while rocking her upper body and both hands near her head. It was creepy for sure. All the belligerent yelling. I was somewhat afraid of her.

Had something similar happened to me sometime ago. Pulled over at the local bakery to grab some sweets and noticed the lady on the phone having a hell of an argument.
I got inside and wife and kids left in the car. Apparently she in the heat of the moment let go the brakes and the car rolled and hit my Audi. Wife called me "someone just hit the car". I ran out and there she was on the phone not noticing what she have done. I knocked on her window and told her that she hit my car and that's when the fireworks started. You F this and F that. She was an older lady. Maybe 65. And as soon as she got off the car she saw that I am Hispanic and made the derivative comment "you people always getting citizens like us in trouble" not knowing who I was. I kept my cool and called 911 and took pics. The cop came and trying to be a nice cop asked me to give her a chance. When I pulled The Associated Press ID, he got all nice to me. Asking me to give her a break. When I explained to him what she said, he was like "**** her". Here is the report and 3 days later I had a check for $1924 to paint the bumper.
Always keep your cool but don't let nobody step on you. After all, is your car, your insurance and her fault.

The road had construction... went from three lanes to two then to one. I was the one who merged into her lane ...however, in my defense, there was plenty of room to do so. As soon as she saw me coming, she sped up and *crash* ...
...and there was a designated turn lane on the other side of her van. I think used this lane to go around me as I was already 50% in my lane and the next.
I think she has some serious issues. After putting on an exhibition, she walked over to my car and started mumbling stuff... I heard "Oh you drive a Merrrrcedessss" and "You ran into me because you're a man and men think they're always first before women."

Unfortunately, unless you had a dash cam (or witnesses) to show she went around you, the insurance company probably won't reverse their decision. I feel for you as this lady sounds like a real gem, but the onus is on the driver with the lane-ends sign to safely merge in the eyes of the insurance companies.
It's like rear-end accidents. The driver in front of you could've intentionally brake-checked you, but if contact is made, it will always be your fault.

Its all a game with insurance, you need to stand your ground and let your insurance fight with the other insurance. INSIST you are not at fault. I totaled my w203 when someone u-turned in front of me and he tried to blame it on me. I got full total price in check! that;s why i am here with you guys.

This is why I'm hesitant to have a nice car. My C280 is in excellent shape but I prefer an older car, they seem to never get hit but newer cars always get dented by some clown in a parking lot or something bad happens and that creates to much worry for me.
