Flashing Brake Lights
Hey guys,
So I was driving around and I noticed a car that had flashing brake lights before going to solid brake light and it seem like a really cool mod. I google'ed up some sites that have it but I was wondering if anyone here installed it?
Thanks

On the pre-FL it def will since the brake and parking light use the same bulb, not sure on the FL version. I've also been meaning to try to but my source doesn't list the bulbs as canbus compatible meaning you'll have to add a resistor which may or may not avoid the dash light.

F1 lights module, i had one installed in my previous Z as a third brake light.
its flashes about 3-4 times real quick then stays on solid, if you let go of the brake and step on it again within 3-4 seconds it wont flash but just go solid so as not too distract drivers in heavy traffic.

Standard issue with respect to Oz delevered Benzes even the low spec C200 has this feature
Lifted from MB' Australian website
Adaptive Brake Lights
If you make an emergency stop from an initial speed of more than 50 km/h the adaptive brake lights flash 5.5 times per second. This flashing of the brake lights warns the vehicles behind you, which can give them more time to react. If the vehicle is braked to a complete stop from a speed in excess of 70 km/h, the hazard warning lamps are also switched on.

I had these on my motorcycle. Its a neat attention grabbing feature. Make sure you get one that one strobes on first application of brakes and is solid afterwards. I've seen people with ones that strobe all the time and its annoying.

This is a different feature. They're talking about a modification where the third brake light (or all brake lights) will flash every time you press the brake pedal (ok, someone mentioned that one product will only do it once within 4-5 seconds). Personally, I think this is an annoying distraction. I've seen a number of cars on the road with this mod. The emergency stop feature that exists in most Mercedes models *is* a great feature because it only flashes (rapidly) if you're braking HARD. I think it's a very smart idea. In the US, the NHTSA deemed them illegal, so all Mercedes here have the feature disabled.
The hazard warning lamps automatically
switch on if:
-an air bag is deployed.
-the vehicle is slowed down rapidly from a
speed of over 45 mph (70 km/h) and
comes to a halt.
...
If the vehicle returns to a speed of over
6mph (10 km/h) after a full application of the
brakes, the hazard warning lamps are
deactivated automatically.

3rd brake light flashing units
Tried several of these flasher modules on my 2014 GLK350.
None of them worked. On board comp. will tell to check the 3rd light.
Other problem: The flasher units won't "reset" because there is always voltage
on that line even with the engine off and everything turned off. Does anybody know why Mercedes maintained voltage all the time. I measured 5.6 V constant
With the voltage present the flasher units will assume that the brakes are held constantly and therefore they won't flash. Appreciate any input

Does anyone know if we (collectively MB owners) can add these successfully with our CANBUS systems?
Do we need a resistor?
I have a 2005 w203.
Looking to add a flasher to solid with brake logic, the X1, as the frequency of people looking up at the last second with big eyes is getting scary
…
Thanks!

I don't see why you would need a resistor since your using the same brake light, not installing a lower watt bulb. I dont know for sure though, never saw those flasher things before.
is it legal where you are to have a brake light flashing?
