I like mine better.
1) Buy the star, plug, and 2 lead wires from dealer for about $250
2) Unplug right headlight.
3) Splice grey wire (Parking lights) on plug
4) Wire +ve end of star to spliced grey wire
5) Ground the star.

Nope, it's running great. I did try to wire it to my DRLs before, but the star did not light up fully.
Some ebay grills use different sized stars, so I would watch out for that if you want to get the OEM illuminated star.

it's ebay waterproof led strips for me.
Plus, not paying $385 for a real MB led star.

is there a way to show the pic of the wiring ..cause im running into the same issue,and was thinking to do the gray wire and tap it, but the black wire to the day time running light..to tap it there..im not sure this would work, but i see everyone is grounding to chassis..but is the a certain bolt or anywhere?
