Exploding / Shattered Sunroof (TriStar Mercedes, St Louis MO)
Purchased this 2014 C350 not more than a two months ago, less than 1800 miles on the clock...and this happens. Was driving down the highway, and heard this loud pop, scared the ***** out of me.
Anyone experience this with their new car, already have a feeling dealership is gonna give me the run around. Service guys were dumb founded and service manager acted uninterested or sympathetic (TriStar Mercedes, Ellisville MO) to what happened, ended up cutting up my arm, luckily don't have a face full of glass.
Service manager even had the ***** to accuse me of "flying down the highway". Worst customer service ever, already contacted MB USA (waiting to hear back from them).
Anyway...guys have any suggestions on how to handle this. Already left bad reviews on the dealership on FB, YouTube, Twitter, Yelp, and BBB. Hopefully that will get their attention.

Nope, nothing hit it. Just driving down the road and heard a loud pop/crack. No idea, I've seen a few other threads on here with something similar happenings.
Only thing I can think of is that it was cracked from the get go and i never noticed when picking up the car from the dealership or defective glass from the factory. No idea!

Either:
1) Something hit it. (Rare)
2) Something flexed (Also rare)
3) Tempered glass edge had a flaw (Most Likely)
Call your insurance and let them argue with the dealer.

Update...
Just had MB USA call me. They are now investigating with the dealership. I'll keep this thread updated. Still no call from the dealership (24 hours later)!

If you feel up to it, ask for tons of compensation, pre-paid services and any freebies you can get. An exchange for similar car? Maybe hint to them that you might talk to a lawyer? Complaint to them you could have had glass shattered on your face and cut you up. It may work
I would keep fighting them until they agree on something. It was a dangerous situation you was in when the glass broke. Good luck!

Damn dude, at least give the dealer time to respond before you kick'em to the gutter. If they don't help you out then put them on the spot light. just my opnion.

From the way you were treated, and their initial response, I wouldn't have much sympathy for them. MBUSA should be concerned about a fault in their product being reported publicly, and the dealer should be concerned about their shoddy service being brought to light. Hopefully one or both get their *** in gear and start treating you correctly.

From that video you posted that Kia Optima, looks like they tinted the sunroof trapping heat in the glass causing it to explode. If you look closely all of their windows are tinted heavily including the windshield!. That was not the manufacturer fault, did you tint the panoramic roof?, I see some of your windows are also tinted in those pictures.

No kidding, they are fighting this hard. Did I tell you that they gave me a loaner car. Next step is picketers outside their brand new dealership they are about to open up. Bunch of morons man, luckily I have the means to do this. Big win for the little guy here!

Can you imagine the heat inside the car without that tinted pano roof?

Terrence,
I'm talking about aftermarket tint applied to the sunroof, I realize there is a slight tint from the factory which doesn't poses a problem since it not designed to block out a lot of heat. Aftermarket tint reflects/absorbs heats straight into the glass, I have tinted many of my own vehicles including the sunroof and the sunroof acts very differently than all other windows.
