Red Caliper Brakes for C350 or any C-class
I've always been a fan of red caliper brakes so when my C350 didn't come with red calipers I was a little dissapointed but it wasn't a make it or break it option. I have been thinking of painting my C350 calipers red but I don't know how it would look. My calipers dont have a smooth surface so my worry is that the paint job would look half assed on it due to the calipers having a rough surface. I bought a caliper paint kit from autozone but I haven't jumped the gun yet. I would like to hear peoples opinions on this. Has anyone painted their calipers red? How did they come out? If so do you have pics? Was it hard to do?
I attached pictures of my boring gray/silver ones.

I'd find a nice thick glossy brush on old fashioned tin of red enamel and use that. Good clean up with a wire brush first and make sure that everything that you don't want red is masked and you'll be fine. You can get replacement logos on ebay so apply them later when the paint is dry and if needed then coat with clear coat. It's probably too much bother dismantling the calipers but it would give better results.

yea i agree, dismantling the calipers is too much work. Obviously ill never get AMG red caliper results but i do want that glossy finish.

I don't know if it is available in the US but try the smooth version of Hammerite, it's thick enough too fill the rough surface of the calipers and dries to a glossy finish without brushmarks.

I painted my calipers red using the autozone kit. Works pretty well, easy to apply, looks good, and is holding up great. You can use any high temp enamel. Brushes on thick and leaves the finish glossy, with no brush marks.
The red calipers really pop and contrasts nicely over my black wheels.

This is the kit my friend purchased:
It turned out pretty nice because it self levels, so you get that smooth glassy shine.
Do this, get your logos for whatever you want off Ebay, Brembo, Mercedes etc. and a can of VHT high temp clear paint. Put on the color first, let it dry, then place your logo, then a few coats of the VHT clear and you're set!
hope this helps you out.

thanks for the advice guys. and yea the red calipers look sweet on your black rims. such a small but very noticable difference. my car came with the red seatbelts so it only makes sense to have the calipers red as well.
