Transmission Performance
Hi all,
About a month ago I leased a 2014 C300 that had about 6,000 miles already on it. The shifting seemed pretty buttery, but then about a week-and-a-half ago, I started noticing more pronounced shifts, like around 15, 25, and 35. Maybe the sensation was always there and I just didn't notice it, but I'm perplexed as to why I would suddenly notice the change. I plan to bring it to the dealer, but thought I'd seek your feedback. I'm rather neurotic about shift quality (I just came off an Acura TL that had one of the most unrefined transmissions in history). I don't know if I'm crazy or if there is something going on.
Thanks!

You can reset the transmission:
(0.) Get into the driver's seat, and make sure all doors, windows, and sunroof is closed.
(1.) Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position. <== Position #2 where all the lights on the dash turn on but NOT to where the engine turns on!
(2.) Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
(3.) Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal. <== I personally keep the gas pedal depressed for 5-10 additional seconds AFTER I turn off the key.
(4.) Wait at least two minutes for TCU to reset. (key in) <== Very important to leave the key in the ignition!
Try this and see if the transmission feels different.

With keyless go you pop the button out and use the key. I personally have never left the key in for the 2 minutes after I turn the ignition off, but I can tell a definite difference after doing a reset.

I'd be interested to know what changes that makes. I assume the reset causes a 'learning' period where you drive for some amount of time to allow the control unit to calibrate ?
but then, you did say that you noticed at change after you had already be driving for a while.

I tried this and noticed no difference. I'm scheduled to bring the car in this Friday. The service tech told me he's never heard of this particular procedure. Would disconnecting the battery put the transmission into learn mode?
