Changing beam bulbs for brighter lights

Hey guys,
Just want an advice from you experienced merc owners.
The H7 55w yellow light bulbs in my c180 are not bright enough at nigh.
I was wondering if I could just swap the factory H7 bulb with something else so that I get better illumination at night. I do not want to go into installing a HID kit, just a simple mod which can improve visibility at night without disturbing drivers coming the other way.
Thanks

I swapped the stock osrams (which were good, but old and now a bit dim for my liking) for Sylvania Silverstar ultras, and they're nice and bright without being awful for oncoming drivers. Whiter colour temperature, too. I can't comment on longevity, I've only had them installed a couple weeks; hopefully they'll last a bit, I was sure to not touch the bulb at all. On another note, anyone know of a place to get the osram night breakers in Canada? Are some sylvania bulbs rebadged osrams in NA?

you can order the Osram from this website and the pricing is good and the service is excellent.

Low beams, very simple job. Took a total of about 5 minutes. High beams are easy too, but take a bit more effort to remove and seat properly

I swapped out my stock low beams with Phillips Diamond Visions and city lights with LEDs from AZN optics. My primary factor in changing was to find bulbs that had the same color temperature as the DRLs. The LEDs from AZN optics are spot on and matched. In my personal opinion I think the Phillips Diamond visions are a little too blue but most importantly they're not as bright as the OEM. They're good on unlit/no oncoming traffic streets but provide very poor lighting otherwise. I just ordered the Osram Night Breaker Unlimited for my low beams then I'll move the Phillips to the high beam. I'll post a follow-up when I've tried it out. Hopefully I have better luck this time.

Thanks for the feedback guys. However, I must be overlooking something because when I raised the hood to look, there appears to be limited access to the low beams at best. I can barely get my hand in there to remove the covers, much less attempt to reach the bulbs. The drivers's side is particularly challenging. Please tell me the secret(s) to make this a "5 minute job".

Euh.. on mine they are very accessible. You can access the cap pretty easily, unscrew them with ease, unplug the wire, remove the retaining metal clip and remove the bulb itself. I would take some pictures but right now I cant.
From google images, here is what you are looking for:

The caps look like these:

Sorry, I am in the wrong area of the forum as I do in fact have a 2013 ML 350. I think there was a hyperlink over on the W 166 to you guys regarding improving the lighting. However, your link here to Candlepower.com has been very informative. THANKS AGAIN!
