Remote Start from Key Fob???
I saw a video on YouTube of a guy who started is 2009 c63 by pressing the lock button on his key fob three times. He cut it off using the same method. Is this really so?

Only smartkey method for Mercedes right now. This is what you are thinking off. And No this is not standard, its aftermarket and it will void your warranty.

I'm going to be doing the 3x lock version myself pretty soon. I understand it's plug and play. I'm very proficient in wiring/ electrical repairs/ fiber optics (due to working for a company that was called by MBZ, BMW, etc to fix their cars). Should be a breeze!

So I question it voiding the warranty. The only reason I do is because MB of Portland is an authorized dealer for this. Would seem to be bad business to sell me one and install it if it voided my warranty.
Just a comment is all.
On edit, I just contacted MB of Portland to ask about this. The chat service will have them call me tomorrow to answer my questions about warranty. This should be interesting!

Like over here a lot of the dealerships will offer you Windows Tinting, even the front Windows here (Illegal in Alberta to have window tint on the front windows). Yet they are allowed to do this and as long as they let you know that if you get front window tint installed, then you might have troubles with the law.

Void your warranty is just a misnomer. You only void your warranty so much as the aftermarket part is directly attributed to the problem at hand. I'd love to see them explain how a remote start caused a cracked wheel for example. However some places will try to blame everything on the aftermarket parts.

Talked to the guys at MB in PDX. They used to do them but not any more. Shipped all the unsold stuff back to the mfg. Shop foreman said they did a number of them a while back and everyone came back with issues related to the settings in the driveability area of the computer.
Now dont jump on me if I used the wrong technical verbiage. Point is they didnt bash them they simply said they wont do them for their customers any longer because they came back too often.
