Service B $1500
I have a 2011 C300 at 28000 miles right now; I'm being quoted 1500$ by the dealership, apparently this is the 4year/40000 mile service. Am I getting ripped off?
This is in the bay area.

Had to get a door ding taken out of my car. Once place quoted me close to 2k to fix while the other Mercedes dealership down the street quoted my 700 to fix it. Guess which one I went with lol.

You need to be more specific OP as to what's included.
But let's take a stab at it...(very rough estimate)
Service B might be ~ $500
40k Transmission Drain/Fill for 7G ~ $500
Im guessing they are quoting for brake fluid flush as well since that's every 2 year or 20k miles. ~$200
Hmmm....still missing $300
anyone has any ideas?
Which dealer quoted you?

Apologies I'm not entirely sure what would be included but what I was told was the basic service B would run around $500; all the other stuff like coolant reflushing, transmission service etc would come up to $1500 including service b.

My Indy shop in Queens (German car shop) did oil change, tranny fluid and filter, and inspection for under $500.
I'd personally look for a good Indy (i know i know hard to find but worth the effort) for maintenance and only use the dealer for warranty work.

The closest dealer to me is in Tucson, next closest is about 100 further. The one in Tucson has outrageous service prices and are always adding something to the bill. Oh, you needed wiper blades @ $48, etc. I have started timing my trips to Phoenix to coincide with my service intervals. About 2/3 the price.

You don't need a coolant flush until 150,000 miles per the maintenance booklet that came with the car (long life fluid is standard from the factory with a built-in slow release pouch for additives). The tranny service can wait until you get to 39,000 miles. The B-service is really just an oil change and cabin and air filter replacement (fairly easy job DIY) and "visual inspection" which any mechanic should be performing anyways. Brake fluid should be replaced every two years. Know what exactly you're paying for and if it's a MB required service or a dealer add-on!

Air Fliter...
But Detroit Born and Raised...
In Detroit they change the brake fluid about never- only when it leaks out..
What is so special about MB brakes and flushing them at 20K mi?

It's not just with Mercedes. I've seen Lexus and other manufacturers suggest this as well. Personally I just use a tester and change it when it's required (at roughly 2-3% water contamination).

You live in the Bay Area. Of course it's a rip. If you live in the East Bay then even independents will be pricey but it will be a wee bit lower.

I go to an Indy shop in the East Bay that is not pricey - eastbayautohaus.com. Paid $560 cash for minimum B, tranny service (torque converter drained) and brake flush. Owner is an MB master mechanic.. You can DIY the air filter and cabin filter, there are lot of videos on YouTube.

German Auto Care at Astoria Blvd and 28th Ave.
He was recommended by someone on here... he used to be at Silver Star and went Indy somewhere along the line.
He's still pricey... just sanely so. IMO, the dealers are truly insane. $1500 for an oil change and tranny fluid and filter? I don't care how many "inspects" and "checks" you add to the list, it's just rude and disrespectful to charge like that.

You would have had to purchase the pre-paid maintenance prior to your first servicing, but it saves over 50% the usual costs.
That being said, a good independent shop is usually quite a bit cheaper.

Required service
I've learned to always identify the MB recommended service Vs. the dealer recommended service. Sit with the service advisor and have only the service that you need per the MB service manual. Let them know you will rotate your own tires, replace the wiper blades, etc. Seems all dealers, not just MB... seem to add to the "recommended" service, and most present it as if these are required. I learned this with Ford when they hit me with a $900 service at 1000 miles... yep, brand new 1st oil change service. So, it's not just MB.
