Navigation and Radio restarts itself after update.
Howdy.
I updated the navigation for a 20009 C300 using the Mercedes DVD's. After the update was complete, when turning on the stereo, the Navigation Screen pops up, shows the MB logo, then the warning, then shuts off, and starts back up. Occasionally, everything loads and it will get to the radio screen, then shut off and start back up. The radio does function, and I can sometimes change the channel using the steering wheel buttons, but usually it does not.
I've pulled fuse 26 and tried whatever button combinations I can find online.
I had MB service center look at it, but after two hours they were unable to rectify without having to pull the system.
Any suggestions as to what I should do?

Try to remove cd/dvd from unit and if you have any other slots (fe. sd card inserted or ipod connected) disconnect/remove everything...this also happens to me after map update on my Comand ntg 4 in my GLK, it looks like unit tries to find newer version of maps, firmware on any external devices which are actually connected to unit...

Try this:
1. Turn off your engine and pull out the key
2. Wait for 20 seconds
3. Press and hold the eject button on the command
4. While doing #3 Insert the key and run the engine
Usually this happens when disk 1 is done and the gremlin of the command kicks-in.
Do not insert all of the disk. You need to do it one at a time. Also remove everything that is connected on the command including compact flash,Ipods etc...

And how do you guys update your comands without automatic shut off after few minutes? Is it possible somewhere to disable automatic shut off or do you have the engines running during the proccedure? Last time it was almost 3 hours....

Unless you have a battery trickle charger at your house you don't have any choice but leave the car running just make sure if you leave it running do it on a open garage.

So after some NTG4 updates, i must say that if your Command reboots, then you must ask your dealer to update the firmware. No need to update the maps, if you already have newer ones. The firmware update is cheap. But you must tell to your dealer that you want a firmware update!! Just that!
And for the Navigation Maps update, no need to leave the car with the engine on. If it has the battery full, then during the update just need to switch the key to position "ignition" and then back to position 1. No need to leave the engine on!!
Hope this helps.
Before you ask your dealer to update the firmware, enter the engineering menu in Comand and write down the Navigation version you have, so you can compare later.
Key in position 1. To access engineering menu push and hold Hang up, 1 and # on the command unit at the same time for a few seconds.

I am in the same situation. Attempted to update maps to current version and the NTG4 got stuck in reboot loop with radio and the DVD still inside. I did occasionally get to the radio screen but never was able to eject the DVD. Eventually I removed the whole unit and took it apart to get the DVD out. Still no luck.
I have not tried removing the HDD, do you guys think that might help?
