100k service for 2008 C300 - extra items to perform?
Happy new year everyone! I have a 2008 C300 that will be at 100k miles when due for its next service. I plan to give this car to my daughter and want it to last. I have been maintaining it by the book but had some questions on extra items to perform.
1) Should I change the differential fluid? Seems to be a good idea but it is not mentioned in the manual. I have done the AT every 40k miles.
2) Should I change the fuel filter? The manual says lifetime but is that realistic?
3) Is there anything else not listed in the manual?
Thanks!

Brake fluid every 2 years.
Rotor thickness within limits?
Power steering fluid ? I changed mine as it was discoloured.I wired a very small magnet to the dip stick which picks up the fine iron .
Serpentine belt worn?.
Grease/lube door, hood, trunk hinges, latches.
Spray silicone on window felts to lower friction & prolong window motor life.
Battery terminals clean & greased with Vaseline.
Check flexible boots for integrity on steering & drive shafts.

Yea, unless your daughter is over 50 she could give a RA about pulling up her knickers and measuring brake pad thickness!!

Not sure about the conversion of miles to kilometers, but at that mileage in km, I'd be doing a full tranny flush including the torque converter.

I am sure your daughter would appreciate being taught how to change the oil & filter by her father. Both mine did & it has made them independent & saved heaps.

Fuel filters are insanely priced so I would not do it. I looked into it because I do it on all my cars but on my C230 it is about $600 Canadian for one. You have to remove the rear seat to do that also. Not difficult but a pain in the ****.
I would change differential fluid and the front too if you have a 4 matic. Crappy thing is on a 2008 you don't have a front drain screw so changing the fluid at the dealer is pricey.
Change the air filters and the cabin filter. They are cheap and easy to do on your own and will save you a lot over getting the dealer to do it. Oil changes too. Buy a cheap 12v $30 pump off ebay and you'll save hundreds over getting the dealer to do it.
