Poor quality seat repair!

I had a fine crack starting on the leather and I had a similar issue on another car which turned into something much worse... I decided to get this fixed under warranty... I took the car in and they replaced the artico leather but the job is terrible! it's bulging in all different spots! the seams are not even (height wise on the back - when you compare the 2 seats) and the back of the chair is now rounded down opposed to flat/square at the edges! when looking at the 2 front seats from the rear it is noticeably different, it looks terrible!

Has anyone had something like this happen? The dealer is simply saying it will straighten out over time!

Is this really MB quality? Anyone have any stories similar?

thoughts anyone?

Recovering the seats is a horrible job and it never looks as good as OEM, although the new seats have had months to stretch and fit before you see them at a dealership, and when we replace covers they don't settle in right away.

There's only so much they can do, but if it's very bad, they should be able to correct it. Pictures would help determine if you are just over-reacting or the dealership is trying to pass off poor repairs as normal.

Generally, they only go on one way, there is no adjustment or fitment options, the covers snap into the frame structure or cushion reinforcements. The foam on your seat could be damaged, but again, pictures would be needed to see what exactly your issue is.

My driver seat covers were replaced (seat and seat back) and it looked as good as OEM right away.

The actual application on the backrest is OK. I noticed some bulges at the sides which I smoothed out which seem OK.

However there are spots were the seams look terrible and uneven this is throughout the whole job... the worst is under the head rest where it's usually flat and there are SHARP corners where it meets the back of the seat...

these areas are lumpy and no longer sharp - they are rounded. I took pictures but they really don't show as well... I'll see if I can upload pictures later.

I would go to interior shop & show them this work to get a second opinion, if they say bull on the notion it takes time to settle. take it back! it looks like they did a rush, rush job.

Superglue would not have done a damn thing. Just try smoothing things over if the dealership won't help you. Maybe even a bit of heat from a hair dryer might help while you work at it.

Either way Artico is total crap and real leather is better. I wish mine had leather and not that plastic Artico BS.

Hair dryer won't work... it's not bubbled in that way
it's not like loose material... it's solid.... I can't even push it down...

Resolved this by going to another dealer who looked at it and actually felt bad for me. there were tension clips behind and they were way over stressed and pulling the material unevenly.. it took 10 minutes for them to look at and fix it... it's not as bad now and it is less noticible.

The dealer that did it wanted a week out and 8 hours to do the job...

I once had a seat cover redone on a BMW i had. Initially, the new cover was lumpy. Brought it back and it was redone perfectly. Turns out the BMW dealer subbed out upholstery work-
