buying a used w204 what to look for.

hi guys . long after selling my clk v6 i am buying again a mercedes. this time i am into w204 200 amg packet body style.

please tell me what to look for.
the owner is sure the mileage is legit but can someone please decode the vin for me wdd204041 1f 001914

alos in terms of running costs should it be less than the clk v6 ?

is the consumption of the 200 engine (m271) so good? they say it is around 8 litre /100km and less on cruising

So it's a C200 with the 1.8 litre engine?

I've got a 2008 C180 Kompressor (1.8l), it's around 7.6l/100km for me. Cruising about 6.9l/100km.

I imagine a C200 would do similarly, perhaps slightly more due to more horsepower.
Would depend on the model year too I guess.

C200 Kompressor W204
Hello there(γεία σου πατρίδα)

VIN Analysis:

http://carinfo.kiev.ua/cars/vin/merc...u=dex7bw093v2z

check all data-equipment here.

I have a C200 Kompressor and i can say that my fuel consumption is around 8l/100km. 225/40/17 all around also with 225/40/18 now
And i am doing 40% city use, 40%country roads with lot of uphills and 20% urban.
To give you an example if you drive wisely aka fuel efficiently you can achieve fuel consumptions under 7l/100km.

Top things to check before buying:
1)True Mileage .check if his electronic service book has any blind spots.(σε μια αντιπροσωπεία)
2)oil traps on the camshaft wiring(πλεξούδες που φεύγουν από τους μαγνήτες των εκκεντροφόρων). 24€*2=48€ you can put them by yourself
3)Tail lights electrical board. Several references for short-circuited-melted (πλακέτα πίσω φαναριών,βραχυκύκλωνε και έλιωνε)
4)Front struts top mounts, all w204 models have an issue and normally around 75-100K kms need a change (όλα τα w204 πάσχουν στα τοπμαουντ. Δες αν τα έχει αλλάξει)
5)Engine temperature thermostat.
Another known issue of these models.
6)Automatic gearbox (if so),transmission fluids age.
7)Seat belt membrane sensor.Sounds weird but its located on the seats and if excessive force was used on them you will find em destroyed.
Not that important though.(η μεμβράνη στο κάθισμα οδηγού-συνοδηγού,αν έχουν πατήσει με γόνατα κλπ μπορεί να έχει σπάσει και να μην έχεις ένδειξη ζώνης κλπ.όχι κ πολύ σημαντικό θαρρώ..)
8)Climate-air condition functions.

If i can remember anything else i will post it here.
Or else pm me if possible.
Geia sou!

says aproximate mileage 244000. why though. the owner says 93300 km. do the vin decode calculates the km on pure luck data. i mean what does it mean aproximate.
the owner has signed service book intervals by legit mercedes authorized service.

Those are just estimates. CarFax will approximate mileage from prior odometer readings. The more times odometer readings have been entered in a system the better the accuracy.

With CarFax I'm usually within a few hundred miles of actual. But my car gets repaired at the dealer every few months and they report electronically.

depreciation rate looks to reduce. now with the w204 c200 2007_2008. so i will get it at 15k euro.
and hopefully down the road sell it in 2 years or more above 10k euro

do you think the new electric era that comes to the automobiles can kill the value of it faster?

Are you referring to cars becoming outdated faster?

That has been a concern of mine with the thought of my next vehicle purchase. While the German manufacturers lead with many tech advances they are terrible at making them standard or even widely available options in most of their fleet.

Heck, the majority of cars on the road now without some type of HID lighting seem to be Mercedes and BMW. We are lucky to have power windows and locks, lol.

But much of it is also the manufacturing cycle. Cars are often outdated before they hit the market and they have to live through the generation's cycle.

Perhaps Tesla may change the Automotive industry.

yes but most specifically the c200 w204 i am hopefully pulling the trigger on

it sold for 50000 euro in 2008
fast forward today i am getting it 15000
it already lost 70 %
but with vw volvo bmw all of them making statements of going electric next 3 years i am afraid the w204 wont sell at an estimate price of 10-12k i am hoping for
on the other hand all these new electrics wont be cheap either and will nee 2 years padt release to be in the used market at least and be in a sufficient volume that will be a choice for mass buyers
i am really lost
i know it is bad to be so investogative about buying it

Well, most cars would probably face the same issues. But autonomous cars are probably the bigger concern. However, I think we are years away from that.

Perhaps something with a bit more collectible value like a C63 would hold up. But will be so much more expensive to own and operate.

C200 Kompressor W204
C63's where reachable some years ago in Greece.
Before recession era.
Now with all the extra taxes, fuel prices, etc only having a licence plate on a car like C63 costs around 2K-2,5K€ per year.
Without even starting the engine.
And of course its the purchase price, not to mention how hard is to sell it afterwards.
Besides that its much more afordable(fuel talking always) purchasing a diesel engine here in Greece than a big petrol engine(unfortunatelly).
But again diesel vehicles are also overpriced.
I suggest you pull the trigger on a w204 but i would move a bit few years ahead on a facelift model 2010+.
With some hard bargain from a private seller you might find something pretty decent ,that will hold up for more than two years.
My 2008 C200 Kompressor just reach 100k kms and feels-looks brand new.
Purchased on 12/2014 with 58k kms and besides normal maintenance i have no issues at all.
Even if you go with the 2007 AMG look package you mentioned, would be a decent purchase.

Hi,
I have a 2008 C200k great car good on fuel and reasonable amount of power, replaced the thermostat serviced the transmission installed extra earth wire on the tail light and do all the maintenance myself done 95000KM and is a really good car.

12km per liter average over 3000km.

I would recommend full leather mine is good, I have read in the long term the Text seat material does not last.

Do the work yourself shop around for parts and enjoy your car.
