2013 c300 4matic U0402 code
hey guys hope all is well! I bought a 2013 c300 4matic just over a year ago and now has roughly 26k on her ticker. was driving down the road and noticed the check engine light was on. once I got home I plugged my code read in and the U0402 code popped up and the emissions test also failed. the code description is "invalid data received from transmission control module" the vehicle shifts just fine and has no problem toggling from eco to sport mode when driving. i find it funny that the emissions test failed, do you think that a dirt mass airflow sensor could pop this code or is it a deeper issue and the TCM is ****ting the bed at 26k? I feel if the module was shutting the bed it wouldn't shift and run as smooth as it does. any help would be awesome and hopefully someone has maybe had this issue and fixed it.

update
update: so I pulled the c300 into the shop tonight and decides to clean the throttle body and the mass air flow sensor. once it was all back together took it for a drive and everything seemed well. i drove for about 20 min and stopped at a store to clear the U0402 code then drove for another 10 to 15 minutes. the Mil light hasn't come back on yet but the code is still stored, I scanned it again once I got home to the shop. i guess we will wait and see if it pops up again. do you think the TCM or ECU needs a flash/update? the car has no symptoms or other codes stored except that one. Any advice from someone that has dealt with this would be great, really any advice one this would be great. I'll keep you guys posted on what's to come!

I see, so I'm guess the mil light will come back on at some point? do you think I need to flash it?

Hi,
Same thing happened on my 2014 C300 4Matic. Thought you might be interested in some of the details...
Mine threw the code immediately after I washed it in my driveway, I suspect I may have got some water in a connector from the TCM.
I cleared it with my code reader, and it took a long time (maybe a week and 400km or so) for the car to go through the full drive cycle and give me a green light on my reader.
It didn't show any symptoms of poor shifting or other abnormailty either while the CEL was on or afterward.
Strangely enough, I was scheduled for service B at my MB dealer the day after I cleared the code. They performed the maintenance and never mentioned anything, maybe they didn't have it hooked up for diagnostics for stored codes, I don't know.
I was out of town on service day, so I didn't have a chance to discuss it with them.
Anyway, all's well that ends well, car's worked great since day 1.

the U0402 fault is a simple software update. If the car is out of warranty, then you'll probably end up having to pay for the labor for it unless you have a good reputation with your local stealership, but it should only take about a half hour or so.
