HELP! Unstable Driving 2014 c250
I have a 2014 C250 with 109,000 miles on it. I recently started having problems with stability driving especially in rainy conditions. The car will start to become so unstable at speeds over 55mph from right to left, you almost lose complete control. My last two sets of rear tires (cheap... Nexen or Nexus) only got 8K miles each set and so I had to go back to good tires but the sway is still there. If I change lanes and hit the lane markers on the drivers side it is solid and stable but if I hit them on the passenger side, there is a noticeable sway in the vehicle. Also, it seems now that the vehicle likes to move around the lane a lot more than it used to.
Does anyone know what this might be?

I've been using Nexen N8000 tires for two years and I am very satisfied with their Dry/Wet performance. Could your problem be something with the suspension and no tires since you went back to good tires but the sway is still there? Maybe have the suspensions inspected (sway bars, alignment, etc...)

Interesting, since I have a 2014 W204 with 4,800 miles on it and the same problem. I'm taking it to Performance Alignment this morning to have them look at it because it is driving me nuts. My wife's Corolla tracks better than this car! I bought it a couple months ago at the Jaguar dealer, it literally was a little old lady's car who only drove it 100 miles per month. When I test drove it I noticed the lateral movement when hitting bumps on the highway. Of course the Jag dealer said it was fine, but my gut is telling me it's not fine. I'll let u know what the shop says this morning, I really hope they can figure it out.

It's not just the tire compound, but also the tire tread depth when considering rain. As I said in the past, I MAY be a tire snob (currently daily driving on Michelin Pilot Super Sports), but over the years I've learned first hand to not cheap out on rubber...ESPECIALLY when they are the #1 best bang for buck mod for ANY car.

The alignment found the front drivers' wheel had some "toe-in" and the rear wheel was off a little (he didn't elaborate). Upon driving with the alignment done, the car handles better and 80% of my problem is fixed. However on certain bumps hit while on a turn still cause a "squish" to one side or another. The guy at the shop said if I'm still having a problem after the alignment they will take a close look at the bushings. He didn't think the bushing would be worn with only 5000 miles on the car, but since the little old lady had hit a pot hole hard enough to blow a tire which needed replaced (dealer records), maybe a bushing had been damaged. I'm happy with the outcome of the alignment since the car does handle noticeably better, but I think I will also take it back in and have the bushings closely inspected to cover all the bases.
