C350 7G TRANSMISSION

Hey guys,

So I recently just test drive my friend’s 2014 e350 cabriolet, and let me tell ya, the transmission shifts so much faster than my 2014 C350 coupe... It has the full manual mode with paddles while mine has the AMG package with paddles but no manual mode. Doesn’t the e class and c class carry the same engine and tranny? If so would I be able to tune mine to match the e class’s tranny? Thanks!!

Factory ordered 2012 MB C350 w/Dynamic Handling Package
The only W204 C-class I've seen (mine included) that has full manual mode are the ones with the Dynamic Handling package ordered from the factory. Aside from the transmission mode, you also get to toggle the suspension dampening on the fly. The "AMG package" is simply a cosmetic option (example staggered wheels).

I read somewhere here on the forum (can't remember where) that using STAR/Vediamo, the C S button near the shifter can be programmed to also switch to M mode which will enable true manual mode. I'm sure you'll find plenty of info if you research about it.

yes, I saw that post made a while ago, still trying to locate a STAR diagnostic tool that I can burrow. In the meantime I was wondering if the manual mode will actually increase upshift/downshift speed in addition to giving full control? The e350 has manual mode, but the shifting speed was noticeably faster as well. To my knowledge they use the exact same tranny and engine, so maybe a software tune is holding back the tranny on the C class?

Have you compared the upshift/downshift speed of your tranny with a non Dynamic Handling package c class? Would you by any chance of a video of your tranny shifting?

Unfortunately the only other W204s I've driven are C250 loaners or pre-LCI 300's (7G, not 7G+), all of which do not have the dynamic handling package hence no "M" mode. As for the speed of shifting, I honestly cannot relate to the complaints I've read, as I feel it shifts perfectly and on point. I also have an ECU tune so that muddies up the water even more.

If you post the VIN of the E-class and your car, I can have both VINs decoded and give you the full transmission model number for both for you to check how exactly the same they are.

Your car's transmission model is 722.960 and the E's model is 722.906 so they have some variations, but I am not sure if these variations are enough to differentiate the shifting times if both were to run in Manual mode. The only way for you to know is to have the transmission programmed with Manual mode.

My car has the Agility Package-manual mode, I ordered it with the AMG package(Configured from webpage of Mercedes). I was told then that this combination was not possible, although the website allowed it. The 1st dealership I approached refused to order the car. The 2nd one tried & I wait 7 months, got different speedo with it which was cool then. On the floor was a similar car with only AMG package, but nornal flat speedo at that time. After receiving the car I phoned the 1st dealer and the saleman still confirm that option with AMG pacage is not possible to get.
In comfort the car really drives soft which I was hoping for, but nobody was sure about.

With Manual mode you see the gear number in speedo apprears.

Agility Package:
I have seen it called the following...
1-Advanced Agility Package
2-Active Agility Package
3-Agility Control Package
