Still have gas fumes

Still have gas fumes
I finally replaced my air intake tube after I found a crack in the breather hose. Unfortunately I had to buy the whole intake tube assembly as MB doe snot sell the breather hose.
Bad news is I can still smell gas fumes when my car is in the garage. I "sniffed" around my engine bay and this time the gas fume is coming from the "silver cylinder" (sorry I do not know the name of this part) above the air intake tube.
I did not find any notable gas leaks or discolorations around the intake tube, or any leak under the car.
Any suggestion is highly appreciated. I just want to solve this issue before I give up and take it to the shop.

My wife and I both have '13 C250's. Her car always smells like gas. Mine does not. Her car has been to MB numerous times. They never really found anything, although one time, when it REALLY smelled strong, MB found a fuel line rubbing on an engine component causing a leak. Not much more I can tell you.

I dealt with this issue a year ago on my (then) newly purchased C250.
It was finally resolved after replacing the crankcase ventilation valve (271-018-09-29) and purge line valve (271-018-02-00). It is necessary to remove the intake to replace these parts, so significant labor time is involved (unless you can do the work yourself).

What do the parts look like?

Those are the correct part numbers for a USA/Canadian market C250 (the C250 and SLK250 share the same M271.8 engine). You will also need new gaskets for the intake manifold.

They are separate pieces. The purge line valve is part of the evaporative emissions system and is attached to the intake manifold. The part has had several revisions.
