Extended warranty expires in June....

I have a 2013 C300 Sport 4Matic. It was a loaner for only 30 days when I bought it as a CPO with an extended warranty that expires this coming June. The car now has 36k miles and has been perfect for the past 5 and a half years. I am the only one who drives it. Wife has a SUV. I really love the car.

Thinking about trading it in June for the new A class which looks really fun or another C. I do have the fear that when the warranty expires....anything could happen. So.....can’t decide whether to keep her and hope for the best or go for a new one. How do you decide when to move on?

I had in the past a 14 CLA 45 AMG
Great car but also had my W204 that I also purchased in the pass.
Love the W204 . Traded in the 45 for at that time new C63S . A real fantastic car but it's strictly a toy.
I've had many new W205 C class loaners and I always said to my self my W204 is so much better.
A class cars are fun but I personally like my W204 much better. Also had A classes as loaners.
You can always add extended warranty with another company if you really want to keep it .

When to move on is different for every person, so there is no right or wrong time. What I can say is your current car has been trouble free for 5 years and has very low miles. Unless you have some reason to believe your current car is having problems the odds are definitely in your favor it will still perform trouble free. One thing to consider is how much more moneyout of pocket you would put out for a new car under warranty. The "gamble" is will your current car cost you more than that amount the next several years or less than that. Chances are it will be a fraction of that. However, that is certainly noit the only consideration to getting a new car, but from a strictly monetary standpoint you willl be better off keeping your current car.

If it were me I'd get the extended warranty and ride it out until the end of that........keep your money a while and see what the future presents. Good luck to ya!

So, should I decide to keep her, any favorite extended warranty plans? Would want a 2 year plan.

There are quite literally tens of vendors. Whatever you choose to do, make sure you very clearly understand the T&Cs of the plans you buy. Make sure you focus on what items are excluded.

A commonly excluded item is "Struts"/"springs", and at my rate on the W204, I need a new front set every single year. Thus, if an extended plan excludes those items, I have no idea why I'm paying for extended warranty as literally nothing else on my car has broken which would warrant a warranty plan, given the repair prices.

I went in a completely different direction. I traded it in this week for a new 2020 GLE 350. Love it.

Ha! We went in the complete opposite direction from what we were driving. Only had my 2020 GLE for 5 days, but I love this beast. The MBUX is out of this world.
